  1. Storm in the middle of the cluster over France is a right mover. Probably a very well developed Supercell. Lightning frequency from it is off the scale.
  2. Factor in the forecast is for a thundery low to develop later on over NW France, with the anti cyclonic movement they'll begin to push more northwards.
  3. Just hit 29.5'c here in the centre of MK, with the humidity it's unbearable. The slight breeze that we do have feels like someone aiming a hair dryer on full blast right in to your face. On another note lightning now starting to increase over France from a cluster of developing storms near Le Mans. Sferics popping up near Brest now also, it's starting to happen...
  4. Holy Moly not had a night around these parts since the late 1980's - early 1990's. Had two very large high based thunderstorms overnight, first one just before 3am and the second around 5am, now have thunderstorms approaching once more. One to my west / north west and a stonker moving northwards from the Luton area. I'm knackered been up watching half the night.
  5. Just been woken fifteen mins ago, constant loud rolling and booming thunder from strobe effect lightning
  6. Few rumbles of Thunder heard now to the North of MK, heading this way, sky is black looking
  7. Looks like a rogue cell has developed here, sky is completely black and it's started to pour it with rain, sky looks like it could start throwing out lightning at any minute. Clouds have a weird greenish hue that normally signifies hail.
  8. Thought it was clearing away, sky is quite bright and it's only raining moderately now, but just heard deep booming thunder once more. Very odd day weather wise so far
  9. Rainfall was mental in that storm. By the way have you seen my new lake / canal? lol http://youtu.be/e3QIpKR8DPI
  10. My god the rainfall here is insane at the minute. Cloud tops must be huge, the spots are the size of 5p pieces and the sporadic lightning is very powerful, the accompanying thunder is shaking the ground.
  11. Thunderstorm now forming overhead in MK instant thunder after the lightning flash, and still the torrential rain is falling, also dramatic shift in wind from a NW to a SE flow, this thing is building in place over the top of the city.
  12. Dark menacing looking skies and torrential rain with embedded small hail falling in MK, no thunder yet though although it's getting heavier by the minute.
  13. Hmmm well the guy doing the forecast obviously fell off the embankment and into the river while estimating today's rainfall. pmsl
  14. I think you'll find it's meant to be 6.89MM, MK says 7.83mm per hour at that time frame.
  15. Looking good out there so far, been overcast all morning but now getting short bursts of heavy convective rainfall, can't see any cloud tops as the sky is covered in cloud. It feels like one of those days when a big storms going to creep up on you because you cannot see any cloud structure. Can already see sporadic lightning popping up all over the place, so looking very good for later on this afternoon. I just hope the rash of showers won't get to carried away and stop any storms from building as they'll all be feeding off each other being so closely situated.
  16. The cell that passed over MK appears to have died electrically, how ever the sky to the SE & SW of here looks very thundery. Huge towering cumulus in the distance with all sorts of low level cumulus flying around the bases at different heights.
  17. OMG, huge flash of lightning and instant extremely loud thunder here in mk
  18. Started to go very dark to the SW of MK, looks like there is a storm brewing
  19. Glastonbury is about to get pasted! Round here the skies are starting to look very convective again with large towering cumulus building and some nice looking cells off to my SW so I'm hoping they intensify, amazing what a bit of warm sunshine is capable of, was looking like a no hope day here for anything stormy. Still plenty of time for something to fire up, doesn't get dark till well past 10pm still
  20. Keep your eyes peeled, appears to be another storm developing right over MK and going to head your way shortly, heard a few small grumbles from high up, as well as bursts of heavy convective rainfall and very squally winds.
  21. Just got torrential rain for 10 mins in MK a while back, road was like a river. Sky didn't look to dark as the storm was still forming but as it moved off towards the NE the clouds were absolutely huge, some of the biggest cumulus congestus i've seen. I'm thinking some of these storms will drop very large hail later on judging by cloud height.
  22. Overcast and grey looking here with the odd bit of drizzle. Skies trying to brighten so no doubt the powerful sun will break the cloud up fairly easily as it gets towards lunchtime. My only concern at the moment is those arms of non electrified rainfall over the SW of the UK heading up north eastwards and ruining any storm potential.
  23. Well that has screwed it up for everyone now. Expect overcast skies and relentless drizzle tomorrow folks....
  24. Funnel cloud spotted near Bicester from the storm which looks to have passed over me here in MK, didn't personally see anything but the storm was very electrically active, https://twitter.com/MarkFlint89/status/481104775887745026
