  1. Current weather type according to the radar. I wonder if this is accurate?
  2. Dew point of 0.0C here and wet bulb +0.1C. Temp fluctuating between 1C and 3C quite quickly for some reason. edit dew point has actually gone down by 1C but wet bulb is still +0.1C
  3. Nice day here. Sunny with an early frost at -2C. Feeling quite warm in the sun with a max of 3C. Currently 1C. Edit. Quite a nice sunset. Despite at one point all the apps including the Met O saying that the trough last night was going to reach here and bring some snow as is often the case from that direction it got nowhere near and we hardly even got cloud. Things not looking so good for the mid to long term now either but I suppose there is still plenty time for change.
  4. Please ask this in the contact the team section. I don't know the answer personally.
  5. johncam Now just waiting to see what the extended says. Probably inconclusive as is usual.
  6. johncam yes a big downgrade UK long range weather forecast Monday 12 Feb - Wednesday 21 Feb Cloudy with showers or longer spells of rain across northern areas at first, with drier conditions in the south. Becoming mainly dry by the middle of next week, especially in the east, whereas western areas may see some rain or showers spread in from the Atlantic at times. Temperatures will probably be around normal, although colder conditions could develop in the east with overnight frost. Into weekend and following week, much of the UK will lie under the influence of predominantly dry conditions thanks to high pressure extending from mainland Europe, albeit with temperatures turning colder. However, milder, wetter weather from the Atlantic will always lie close by, with this encroaching from the west at times. Updated: 14:00 (UTC) on Wed 7 Feb 2024
  7. Snowing in North side of Aberdeen city just now. From my daughter. B05ACC5E-0D46-4B86-9876-EB04DA6E20D2.mov
  8. Don Yes looks like the low is going to hang around and the temperatures mixing out the coldest air. After that?
  9. UK long range weather forecast Sunday 11 Feb - Tuesday 20 Feb Remaining unsettled initially with further rain and hill snow across the far N, elsewhere a mixture of sunny intervals and rain showers. Thereafter a trend toward more settled, but likely cold conditions is favoured with snow showers tending to focus on eastern coasts. Elsewhere, a decent amount of dry weather, but with some hard overnight frosts and a risk of ice. Again milder air may try to encroach from the Atlantic, bringing with it the usual risk of rain turning to snow as it encounters the cold air, but this very uncertain. Windy at times, especially in the E at first, with a notable wind-chill. Temperatures generally in the range rather cold to cold, especially across the north. Updated: 14:00 (UTC) on Tue 6 Feb 2024
  10. Looks like they have got lucky at least so far. Snow is fine and weather excellent.
  11. snowidea I get that too recently on xc. Thursday has snow one second, rain the next and just keeps alternating. Nice day here today. Bright at 9C with Westerly breeze.
  12. My brother and sister in law are away to Obergurgl this week for the third year in a row, Looks like conditions will be ok to good but just as well that they have gone high I suspect.
  13. UK long range weather forecast Thursday 8 Feb - Saturday 17 Feb Initially mainly cloudy, dry and cold across northern areas, milder in the south with rain increasing from the southwest. Rain pushing back north through Thursday with snow for a time across the northern edge of this likely with accumulations over high ground but also a transient threat at lower levels. Remaining unsettled Friday with further wind and rain likely, again wintry on the northern edge of this. Through the weekend a change toward a north or north-westerly wind brings cold conditions spreading across the UK with wintry showers across coasts by Sunday but clearer inland as rain clears southeast. A further change expected mid-week as high pressure becomes increasingly dominant. Temperatures potentially recovering to average with this, though any prolonged clear skies liable to bring localised frosts and fog risk. Updated: 14:00 (UTC) on Sat 3 Feb 2024 Sunday 18 Feb - Sunday 3 Mar Although there is still some uncertainty, conditions most likely to be drier and more settled overall for much of the UK with lighter winds mainly from the north or northwest but potential for some stronger winds at times later on. This would increase the likelihood of colder conditions developing more widely for a time with potential for fog and notable frosts alongside wintry showers across the north/northwest or more widely as any isolated fronts move through later in the period. 14. Please go to the appropriate thread if you wish to discuss theMet O update. Thanks.
  15. Sunny but breezy but very mild. At 13C it is the warmest day of the year here so far.
  16. Our friends in Molde must not look at tv or social media much as until my daughter mentioned it to them yesterday they were not aware that it was happening. Now they are battening down the hatches! Here wind is gusting and bringing in a bit of rain. Tay bridge down to cars and single decker busses only so must have exceeded 60mph but not 80mph when it closes completely.
  17. @Hawesy Just up the road we have just about been dry so the rain must have barely reached the Tay. It has been cloudy all day though and quite cool with a max of 5.4C.
  18. Latest reports say that it rose to 19.6C as yet unverified. 10 degrees cooler on this side at 9.5C
  19. Some news reports saying that it rose to 19.6C though I have not seen that verified yet. A full 10 degrees cooler here to the SE of the mountains at 9.5C though still well above average.
  20. As reported by @AWinterstale in the adjacent thread a new provisional UK January record and Scottish winter record has been set at Kinlochewe. 19.2C.
  21. @A Winter's Tale yep. From an official site too. Provisional record for now but looks odds on to be correct
