I can't see my area getting any snow so near to the coast in fact I expect today's event to be exclusively for people lucky enough to live on high ground above 200ft or so

. Even if next weeks easterly does come off can't see us north-westerners seeing much if anything from it. -
According to the model thread I should now be packing away my snow shoes, snow shovel and winter survival kit and instead stocking up on sunblock, shorts and beach towels for next weekend. I thought mother nature controlled the weather and not a pile of data punched into some number crunching supercomputer. Or am I wrong?

Any sort of snow for my area so early in the season would be huge improvement on this time last year. Last winter was such a huge let down compared to 2010-11. Hoping this upcoming cold snap is just a small taster for what the rest of winter has to offer, fingers crossed.

Winter 09/10 and winter 10/11 seem like they where extraordinary exceptions and this winter has been normal service resumed. Absolutely rubbish winter here and what seems to be the norm in our current climate. I fully expect next winter to be more of the same unless I emigrate to Canada or Alaska.

Much colder air undercutting the front this time, instead of the other way around.
So if you can hang on to your snow until Tuesday, you'll probably get a top-up.
Really hope we see something from this. Today was such a disappointment for so many.

Even if the icy rain turned to snow here now the precipitation wont last long enough for it to amount to anything anyway. Hoping we manage to get some decent snowfall soon as the clock is ticking down on this winter.

had around 2 hours of snow in Ashton, 2-3cm of snow on the ground everywhere!

Ha, thought I saw snowflakes falling then, it turns out it was my Pampas grass blowing in the wind,
I thought i saw an odd flake, hmm think i need to change my shampoo brand to head & shoulders lol.

Haha just heard tonights dancing on ice has been moved to an outside venue.

Temperature should start to fall off in the next hour or so fingers crossed it will make a big difference.

You just wait for the Greenlad high. Give it 10 days.
Really hope so because this winter so far has been a real let down compared to the last. Normal winter service resumes, mild zonal mush with the odd cold interlude that amounts to nothing.
