  1. Just come back from Woodford. Car temp was showing minus 12 after 1 hour parked up away from buildings (pub car park) Its actually quite local, becuase by the time I had driven back to my house in Bramhall (1.5 miles), it was up to minus 8. That was at 2100. Now my garage temp guage is showing minus 11. This morning at 7am, I left home and the car was showing -12. By the time I hit the M60 at Stockport in was minus 10. At the top of Windy Hill (M62) it was postively tropical at minus 4. Dianne Oxberry gave a very plausible explanation as to why Woodford is a cold spot. It is at the foot of the Peak District, and when what little wind there is is coming from the right direction, the cold air rolls down off the hills and pools around the open space of Woodford aerodrome.
  2. -14 in Bramhall Village, measured on my garage roof. 0800. That has to be a record. I can only ever remember seeing -10 around here once before, that was in 99 or 2000 I think. For those that want to know, if you walk out into it, it feels a little chilly. Makes your eyes water. Its not the coldest I have ever experienced, that was -21 in Aviemore in the late 90's sometime. That was something else. I then placed a bottle of mineral water on the car roof, and watched the ice form in it !.
  3. My thermometer on my garage roof, in Bramhall, 1.5 miles from Woodford currently says minus 14
  4. Woodford should update soon on the Met office site, its still showing the 2200 temp.
  5. Yes, proper snow! Whilst the dog walk was very cold, I had on my ski jacket, big furry hat, thick gloves, walking boots etc. I love it when the snow creaks and crunches under foot, not the usual slushy splash that we normally get. I tried to make a few snowballs for the dog to chase, but the snow is too cold, its just powder. Also, the pavements are easier to walk on this evening. The ice seems to loose some of its slippiness at these temps.
  6. I have just walked the dog from Bramhall to Woodford and back, and it is bone chilling. The reading I think is correct. My thermometer in the garage in Bramhall is reading -12, and I am in a housing area.
