Looking at the cfs, further into March looks rather blocked with high pressure in the ascendancy meaning benign conditions for the majority…then I’ll skip April and look forward to early May! …call me a traitor coldies… I’ve had enough of this abysmal / pathetic / rotten excuse for a so called winter season already!…bring on the sun! ️

According to the Daily Express! ..we will be covered in snow soon! ..more likely mild with rain as the Gfs 12z op indicates! …sorry guys, but I’ve had enough of this.. roll on summer! …I’m sure it will be a record breaker!

andymusic Aye, for sure, the first day of the meteorological spring is looking bitterly cold!!!! …enjoy! … I think any snow accumulation would soon melt, on lower ground at least…a pretty poor return considering the last 3 months...................... The Cfs says winter…erm, cough, cough,…I mean early spring!..might deliver some proper cold uppers! ….yes indeed…honestly though, what a shockingly poor winter it has been..and I am looking forward to the first spring heatwave!…blasphemy…woteva!.. I’m with young Sidney!

Why is anyone still posting?.... Is it the Gfs 12z op?.... Yeah right,....give it up coldies, this winter was a joke of epic proportions!...roll on spring warmth and sun... Yes, reverse psychology of course as i'm a die hard coldie.. . But, you know, even i know when to admit defeat!...at least we still have April!

To be honest, I’m looking for early heatwaves now! …no sign of that on the models so far though!!!!!…but maybe there is a chance of colder weather returning during the last third of feb!…I have tremendous sympathy for the majority of members on here, especially those who are in the south of the u k who have endured, for the most part, a stinky winter, I really do!..hopefully the cfs brings hope of an Easterly! …being serious, I think the early meteorological spring could bring some wintery spells..well, according to Exeter anyway..until. Tomorrow at least, the models are making mugs of all of us let’s be honest, so much chopping and changing..glad I’m only an occasional poster now, I don’t have the stomach for it anymore! I was almost ready to give up on what little remains of this pathetic winter until I saw the Cfs!… …the early part of the meteorological spring might be interesting too…but should I hold my breath? …if not, roll on the lighter evenings / mornings & strengthening sun..,see, there’s always a bright side!

Perhaps the Cfs has a late rescue plan for this pathetic winter?..the other models don’t seem to right now! …anyway, winter is fast disappearing and is very disappointing, some things never change do they?

Perhaps I’m clutching at straws…but early May could be cold? ..on a more serious note, this winter seems to be fizzling out before it ever really started and honestly, the experts can’t be blamed, they are only looking at the same models we are and drawing a conclusion..shame this winter, for the majority, is another carp fest! ..but the bright spot is, I have a few more snowy pictures from my house to enjoy! ️

The cfs shows some interest further ahead.. and even further ahead too! …that’s why I love the cfs, it gives false hope at a safe distance, however, I do believe there will be some hot spells during the summer!

I think , essentially, unfortunately, the gfs has performed well recently and the other models have been dragged towards it. ( including exeter )...but quite frankly, i don't care, i'm not scared... This winter, for the most part, for the majority of the u k has been a joke...roll on spring already, to be sure, it hasn't felt like winter much since dec 1st .... Please correct me if i'm wrong?

I’m seeing some wintry potential from next weekend and at times thereafter, especially across the north but not exclusively!..the latest ECM highlights this, as does the latest update from Exeter, which wasn’t the case until today!..hopefully winter will be making a comeback during February.. fingers crossed etc!

Please god let the Cfs be right about wintery potential beyond the upcoming mild stormy dross??!!!…I’m not ready to sign the death warrant on winter 2023 / 24 just yet! … there’s plenty of time left.. even into March / April… .. I’ve convinced myself now, I’m deluded perhaps.. but.. you never know.. I might not be! .. up here at castle black, there’s a few nice photos from this winter so far!..

If I was granted a wish from the genie in the bottle it would not be for a wishbone!.. honestly, why are u k winters so cruel to coldies?… but it does look unseasonably cold for most of next week..which is a kind of victory when you consider global warming etc.. …….but now, I’m waffling..cut!

I’m happy with the general direction of travel from tonight’s ECMWF 12z ensemble mean, among other output!..if I had some champagne, I would raise a glass to it…but..I’ve drunk it all..hiccup!

I sincerely hope the models have now reached their respective tipping point now and all roads lead to cold reloads?! …surely coldies deserve some luck..don’t we? …for sure, it’s going to be interesting to see how this evolves regarding week 2!….enjoy the ride

I remain optimistic for my fellow coldies regarding week 2 regarding some meaningful arctic cold looking at the longer term ECMWF 12z ensemble mean, hopefully something is afoot following a benign anticyclonic spell.. hopefully NOT an actual foot.. …being serious though, I want January to produce a real taste of winter..for a change! It’s sheer madness in here, ..but the GEFS 12z mean suggests to me a Northerly from the Arctic taking shape between next sat / sun onwards into week 2.. fingers crossed

Patience grasshoppers.. … I’ve just looked. at the means and they scream an arctic outbreak beyond the upcoming anticyclonic spell due to the significant weakening of the polar vortex! ..anyway, strap yourselves in, it might be fun for coldies during the weeks ahead?.. not like a normal crud (mild) u k winter eh?

The GEFS 12z mean suggests a more benign regime in the not too distant future.. but that isn’t so bad is it?.. after all it feels like we’ve been battered by enough wind and rain to last a lifetime surely?, ..ok perhaps not but you catch my drift?.. wasn’t it Kennedy who said ich bin ein Berliner? .. ok, forget the Berliner part!
