  1. Light covering here at sea level. Hopefully catch some more later.
  2. Hi, Thanks very much for the information! I would be hopeful some snow cover could be retained up there at 600m but as you say it depends how mild the weather becomes. Fingers crossed the breakdown continues to be delayed, at least till after next weekend. I will take a look at those links and bear your suggestions in mind for our trip, a visit to the loch sounds like a great idea!
  3. Hi All! I'm a long time reader of this forum although not much of a poster. Great to see so many of us get some snow over the weekend. Here in Prestonpans we have been pretty unlucky. No lying snow all Winter despite other parts of East Lothian receiving a few coverings. Got a slight dusting yesterday but were too far East and missed the heaviest of the precipitation, typical! Still, the seasonal weather is definitely a bonus! On another note, I am heading up to the Glen Clova area this weekend and have been hoping there would be snow but it's not looking good! Do any of you know the area at all? I've never been and was wondering if there are walks in the area that go up to a decent height where it's likely there would be snow on the ground even if there's none in Glen Clova itself. Would appreciate your advice. Thanks
  4. Anyone else spot the odd extension to the snow warnings for today into tomorrow to cover the Central belt and Western side of East lothian?
  5. Radar suggests we have something falling from the sky but I can confirm the radar is lying!
  6. Chucking it down here now. Long may it continue. Easily the best covering for a few years here even if it is only a cm or two.
  7. Can confirm said blob just reached Prestonpans and ground turning white straight away!!
  8. Nothing here yet but reasonably confident of at least a covering later given the reports. Be good to see those of us who haven't had a covering yet this winter get something.
  9. Appreciate your very informative posts LSS. You seem confident of any precipitation being snow down the eastern side over the next few days. Do you envisage any marginality at all here from now until Monday? Notice the met indicate possibility of rain/sleet. Be good to take a hit from one of these potential snowfalls over the next few days. Currently 1C here and dry. No snow to be seen thus far.
  10. Dry, clear and freezing here at the moment. No snow yet but hoping we will see some over the next few days.
  11. Our earlier shower amounted to a dusting on all surfaces that's not thawing thankfully! Fingers crossed for more later!
  12. Snowing here too and lying but not heavy enough to give an actual covering so far. Promising though should a heavy shower hit later.
  13. Likewise Blitzen, I would happily take 2cm's of snow given we haven't had any lying snow this winter or last.
  14. Heavy snow shower here for past 20 minutes. Trying to lie on grass, cars etc but roads and pavements just wet. Are conditions expected to get a bit more favourable for lying snow after dark?
  15. Thanks for the reply LS! Yea I know those charts ought to be taken with a pinch of salt but we can dream To be honest I'll just be happy to see snow on the ground here, a cm or two will do me! You could do reasonably well in Freuchie if you get your fair share of showers! Looking at that chart I reckon I'll give Falkirk a miss tonight! Plenty snow around at that time by the looks of it. Gusty and drizzly here at the moment but winds nothing like as strong as this time yesterday.
  16. 10cm's of snow for us in Prestonpans right on the Forth? I'll believe it when i see it. Like many of you i have yet to see snow on the ground this winter or last so hoping for a little something tomorrow. Supposed to be driving to Falkirk tomorrow evening but i gather that may not be a good idea?
  17. Seen this on metcheck earlier: We are currently monitoring the possibility of a rogue vortex embedded within Storm Nadjas circulation to bring heavy snow and blizzard conditions for a time across North-west England, South-west and Eastern Scotland during the early hours of Saturday morning and into Saturday afternoon. Freezing levels are likely to drop to between 300-400m within this vortex with the possibility of this lowering to 100-200m as the system pushes North-east bringing snow and accumulations in strong Southerly gales to lower levels. How likely is this is come off and is there the potential for it to affects areas as low as mine or more likely to affect areas a bit higher up?
  18. Seems the media are forgetting the battering Scotland will take from this up coming storm! Should we expect a belt of the strongest winds to funnel through the central belt as is often the case or is the worst of this storm likely to be limited to the NW? Sleet showers here earlier, no snow!
  19. Looking good for my boat trip down the forth on Sunday I see...
  20. Still snowing this morning and I imagine it has all night but if anything we have less snow now than we did when I went to bed. Big let down here but not a surprise. Hope others are fairing better.
  21. Been snowing steadily here now for past 30 minutes but not heavy enough to cover anything to be honest. Need a real step up in intensity for a real covering to develop here. Light covering on grass, cars and roofs, slushy pavement and nothing on the roads...
  22. Really heavy shower for 10 minutes there came through and has given all surfaces a light covering, definitely a start! More where that came from please...
  23. Been snowing on and off here but nothing particularly heavy apart from the odd minute here and there. Slight cover on grass, roofs and cars, layer of slush on pavements but nothing on the roads. Hoping for heavier snow soon to get the covering well and truly down so we have a base to build from.
  24. Hi LSS, After your last prediction being spot on about the last snow event in my area a few weeks ago I just wondered what your thoughts were on tonight and tomorrow in Prestonpans? Was very surprised to see us in the metoffice amber warning area being beside the forth with all this talk off rain/sleet at the east coast but then again I suppose we aren't on the immediate east coast as such. Would appreciate your thoughts.
