  1. Well maybe it's good to remember occasionally that we're only one tiny corner of the planet, and other things are happening out there in the wider world.

    Quote courtesy CNN news:

'Last month was the warmest June on record worldwide, according to a report from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Warmer-than-average conditions were present across nearly all continents, including much of the United States, according to the organization's State of the Climate report, released Friday.

Although global sea surface temperatures ranked the fourth-warmest on record, the combination of land and sea anomalies pushed June 2010 past June 2005, previously the warmest June on record, the report said. June was also the fourth consecutive month in a row of record warmth worldwide.'

  2. Yep, I remember struggling to school in Devon in the Winter of 62/63 (that's 1962/3, not 1862/3 btw).

None of this litigious claptrap health and safety nonsense then. :D:p:p:D

I blame Cherie Blair and the Human Rights Act. Why can't we have a Human Responsility Act too?

    I'll shut up now. :D

I too am old enough to remember struggling to school in Jan 63, although even then it was closed for the first week of term.

Noggin, you're getting your politics in a muddle. School closures have nothing whatsoever to do with the Human Rights Act (beither has Cherie Blaire actually). You should blame instead those obsessive and small-minded parents who sue schools and local authorities if their precious child slips on the ice (most of them probably Tory voters, if they can afford the lawyers fees)
