  1. but but but.. there was no pink on the NAE chart for where you are, so how can there be.. & how can we believe you?... enjoy
  2. been snizzling most of the afternoon here, interspersed with graupel and snowflakes at times, but apart from a light covering this morning, no accumulation as yet.. looks like a repeat of last week whereby the convective showers may be all we have nearer the coast.. with the main band giving us a miss tomorrow
  3. Well it's been a not so nice snow day here .. one of the football games was cancelled, the one in Kemnay because there was lying snow already at 8am.. the other in Aberdeen went ahead, but was moved from Dyce to Bridge of Dee, I presume because of the height difference.. there was no lying snow in Aberdeen.. but the biting Easterly wind was potentially dangerous.. then it started sleeting/snowing while the boys were playing football.. it literally was baltic! mid-way through second half, one of the kids collapsed with what I reckon was a mild/moderate hypothermia (to be confirmed) - just grabbed the First Aid kit and ran! scary seeing a child confused and faint... the ref did then stop the game, in hindsight it should never have taken place - the ingredients were too severe.. there's cold and there's wet, but the combined wind chill (-4ish) and wetness was/is a very bad mixture - especially for growing kids whose blood sugar might be a little awry - there's namby pambying and there's realising there is actually a danger.. lesson now learned.. my hands are still sore after their quick freeze and thaw, but they are now working again... I have Reynauds & I would not normally take off gloves under any circumstances on days like today, but I had to open first aid things which was more important.. back to weather though only half-heartedly.. It snowed here until about 2pm when the convective showers died out, though it didn't accumulate to much as it was quite wet .. since then there's been a few heavy grain showers which I presume is courtesy of the band.. edit: confirmed Mild Hypothermia, child was very sick afterwards but didn't need hospital (hydration) as was re-warmed slowly.
  4. Snowing here... started as graupel/snow grains about 4am.. but proper flakes now about 0.5cm lying already so will football be on or off..
  5. Bright, sunny & chilly here this morning, so far it's all going to plan for the football forecasts and now "that 06z" !lol - was just beginning to think it was time to step back from snaw watch too.. oh well another few weeks then Have a great w/end everyone!
  6. LOL..perhaps this is what we get for reading here, instead of hanging of the media's every word #cannawin quote from BBC twitter: BBC @ 7.05am.. and that is (almost, but it was true @7.05am!) exactly what happened/is happening - it's baltic, it's not 4-7C (anyone thinking this "forecast" is not for us yet?) - in fact here... max today was max 4 min 1.2.. just now = 1.7, wind chill I don't know but I posted earlier it was -4*C, which feels a heck of a lot colder than 0 - it's media hype BFT.. nothing more, nothing less
  7. they may well have done later-ly (spelling intended), but i never actually saw it mentioned at all on the news, though it may well have been after there was nothing else to mention.. there's been so much this week! your not so 'well sourced' image was earlier tonight at 6pm.. but it, this "northerly", was only ever "well sourced" between midnight and 6am (past!).. anytime after that it was a bonus (or not as turned out) subject to direction fluctuation as well as actual precipitation content Yea I agree, but no-one said that before last night/now because no-one actually said there was a potency to it in the first place. but anyway I certainly didn't expect anything more, and I'm sorry if some did.. I tried i had my candles lit and was praying remember.. (waste of time that is!!) No idea what one of them is
  8. who by? I didn't think so.. I hoped a lot, yes, but I never read it hyped to be more than it turned out to be..
  9. was thinking about you Hairy, was it completely freezing where you were working,up north & outside!?! - if so dip under those flairboards and join the footie dream,,,Scotland doing well, so far, tonight - it is a lot like getting snow tomorrow a dream that makes for a good conversation along the way
  10. I must have really lost it today!! but when I saw the MetO warning for Thursday (whole of UK) : http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/weather/uk/uk_forecast_warnings.html I got a very clear image, and literally burst out laughing, though nothing to do with the actual weather, more reminiscent of MT fishiness perhaps?.. hubby says it's time I stopped speaking to you lot, he thought weather was harmless but is now worried about my health.... note: I think the MT had something to do with it as Trolls are involved Before and After: ... sorry LSS: I can't use paint like wot you can, and I don't have PhotoShop on this PC so am trying to learn GIMP.. and lastly my sincere apologies to everyone I masked out! now I'll get mi coat
  11. \o/ \o/ - I did, I did!! don't trust myself tho' & thought you were gonna post about it last night TBH also didn't post the pretty charts - hangs head in shame every OT post needs a chart Snooz!!
  12. PS: Ravelin, I might have an Adult n Child ticket for Scotland game this evening (not the drinks/buffet one sorry!) if you're not already going, do you want them if still available?
  13. it's not even funny 'in there' anymore! as Ravelin says.. even trying to read between the lines is not possible from last night to this morning for crying out loud, well apart from IF's input late last night which LSS has posted above anyway.. thanks! I've been trying to keep an eye on this weekend as we're really really hoping we will finally get a game of football played, team moral (and most probably match fitness) is non-existent - our boys haven't played since 2nd October.. who says it's not been a cold winter! LOL so here's the non-science, wishful thinking forecast..I think we will get football played on Saturday & Sunday - but I'm not going to Pittodrie tonight even though I had tickets to a pre-match drinks and buffet - too caul'! ------ Shorter term, I think this Thursday could well be interesting for the kilts - while the forecasters on BBC totally glossed over the front, coming from the West, on last nights report, I think they did so until they knew how much cold this northerly would bring, as they knew it to be a weaker affair.. now I'm no expert but I think that's a big chunk of cold sitting up there currently with the forecast for it to be dragged down overnight (not necessarily snow.. just cold!) so I think Thursday evening, Friday am could be short term interesting, however then Saturday and Sunday look to be pretty nondescript, weather-wise. SW'ly's, max temps 3-4C, not mild but just not as exciting as the wind/snow/blizzards etc we become accustomed to this week I think that the "easterly" (coming from YAS, yet another slider) that's causing much consternation in the MT is more likely to hit central belt/borders/embra than SE Fluffyshire, and even if it doesn't it will be a waste as it will be rain for them, snow for you mwahaha - but that is not going to be until very late Monday/Tuesday, take all of the above with a pinch of salt as I don't do forecasting out loud usually, am on call and bored, and I've probably just guaranteed that the opposite of what I've written will happen hehe.. but like you am trying to figure out the weekend! and I just dinna believe thon forecaster mannies & wifies on TV (btw for any forecasters reading, - why are you reading and not doing weather? - am just kidding, I know your life is difficult .. sheesh imagine if each of the models got their own TV Channel, and produced forecasts, where would we be ) ------------- Still blowy, showery and sunny here, our slight covering still remains around the house but looking over the village it's gone, it's not often I see the 50m height difference as clear as this, but unless the showers pep up it will probably clear in the sun in next couple hours too edited: sorry quoted wrong post, now fixed
  14. Yay NL,baltic tho' isn't it!... and thanks for wonderful summary again LSS Strangely the only local place with "accumulation" further East is the A96 - Tyrebagger, visible on trafficscotland cam and I hoped hoped that even with the wetness to be overcome that we would have more of accumulation when I woke up this morning but nothing/nada.. until about half an hour ago when we've now had a couple showers (and darkening down for another?) graupelly to start then big flakes, accumulating immediately Temp 1.8/ 0 DP , windchill -4 ...
  15. Glad to see those charts LSS, the consequences were to be dire.. the latest NAE suggests also that after midnight may well be the tide turner NL looks like you are right in the firing line, so stay safe and I hope you have no calfies to deal with tonight/tomorrow I still have faith in the N'ly evolution.. OK I've got the incense burning and am chanting to Ullr too .. I look forward to the summary though am glad you apologised in advance LSS cos I think I know what's coming Saw that CAD thing posted earlier Lorenzo, but the descriptions go right over my head.. looks impressive though
