  1. Thats a pretty decent and positive outlook to what could happen and I for one would love to see it, working outside all year round has it good and bad times but the last thing I need is another prolonged unsettled and wet spell as it really doesnt help my business.
  2. Got minus 10 here in Norwich. I was driving home from Guildford last night and was watching my temperature gauge drop, on the M11 just past Saffron Walden it dropped to minus 11, didnt believe it at the time..but seems it was pretty close!
  3. Confirm that we just had a light snow shower here in Norwich and more in the way, a little top up is always welcome especially as the earlier thaw has now frozen up the ground.. could be fun in the morning.
  4. Was hoping for more but without going outside, looks between 3-4 inches, which is better than what we did last time round although could of been better as further south 6-7 inches being reported. Still, my 4 year old son is very happy!
  5. Cant believe how light the PPN is and according to the radar it looks like London/Essex is going to get the most and bugger all here in Norfolk yet again.
  6. I feel your pain. Last decent snow event the country had, we saw very little of it on that occasion. Good job i work in Kent, i got to see a foot of it!
  7. My concern is the PPN is only light and doesnt appear to be intensifying, as is always the way for this part of the world. Looking forward to a nice dusting in the morning then.
  8. Lets be realistic here, it has been snowing here in Norwich but at the moment, not enough to settle to any amount measurable, instant melt on the roads and a slight whiteness to the grass and my car but thats it for now. Unusual that Norwich had any at all, its usually rain starved!
  9. Its Costessey/Bowthorpe way, in other words no more than 2 miles from the City.
  10. To which i say 'LOL'. Wait and see, if it snows on Christmas Eve as i go to bed and there is a dusting, i'm happy, but its unlikely these parts are going to see any genuine accumulations worth writing about until the next proper breakdown.
  11. LOL, as said, nothing more than a dusting is what i predicted and not even had that, just very light to light (not once been heavy) sleety fine snow melting in contact with the ground and actually speeding up the melting of remaining snow from last week.
  12. Brakes dont work in the snow, thats why you have to drive slower than normal and use the gears (engine braking) to slow down. Anything more than a touch on the brakes will causes them to lock up, or the ABS will go crazy as it tries to find which tyre has the most grip. Cars without ABS can be better in the snow because it can allow locked up wheels to dig into snow unless its already compacted.
  13. Lets hope the disruption is minimal and people learn to cope with an inch or two on the ground, its not a big deal and has really affected some people's livelihoods. As before, i see Norfolk getting nothing more than a dusting and i expect as a result half the schools will close
  14. I predict Norfolk will be safe this time And hopefully the SE as well, as i have to work down there this Thurs and Fri and getting fed up having to walk away from work because its too cold for me to carry out.
  15. Which, going on previous ppn in that area, will split up and then disappear before it reaches inland
  16. The thaw started last night, as per my previous post. Last night i heard the dripping off the roofs aswell. Fail to see how this easterly is going to bring us any snow of any significance, it wont settle, and as on previous occasions any ppn will fail to materialise in Norwich or surrounding areas. This has very much been a real event for those in southern central and the SE, it made sense to split this thread because i could not follow the original no matter how hard i try, and i've been on forums for years! Hoping next week will bring some mildness, get rid of this horrible slushy, dirty powdery stuff we have, let me get some work done as being self employed i rely on the weather to be reasonable. As much as i love snow, its annoying me now.
  17. Been to Cambridge and back, did someone leave their oven door open as temperature went from 0 to 1c when we left, to the giddy heights of 5c according to the car! Back home its around 2c, still warmer than its been for a week. We also have a sleet shower.
  18. Dont be silly, we have the Norwich snow sheild which only lets in about an inch
