  1. Well im off to Cambridge later, not going to let a 'chance' of snow stop me, unless anyone can convince me we are getting 8 inches like Sky news said this morning...
  2. Lovely and sunny here, partly cloudy but actually quite nice out there when you brave it, ive just been out with my son. So, as most areas of ppn seem south and NW of me here in Norwich, what is this talk of heavy snow this evening and into tomorrow?
  3. Scrub that, a shower just come in, sideways. Brrr that wind looks cold, we were gonna go for a walk later too.
  4. Another inch here. Of more concern will be the lack of gritted roads now they are cutting down, and that strong bitterly cold wind. Doubt we will be in for more though.
  5. Tbh its not as bad as they make out, at least not along the M25 to J10. I would much rather we had tons of it over the weekend and then it all goes by next Thursday as i am so behind on work its unreal. Painting cars in minus 3 really is hell.
  6. Had a bit of crappy powdery sleety stuff here ten minutes ago... Always splits around Norwich and then dumps on south Norfolk.
  7. Nothing here in Norwich, partly cloudy. Had a thaw going on earlier too.
  8. Norwich has about 0.5cm tops. But then its not in the south east, its in East Anglia.
  9. FWIW, its barely below freezing here at 0.5-c, you can hear the street drains running with water...
  10. Yep! Drove down last night, clear all the way till Swanley, Kent around 1015pm, it then started snowing, more heavily and got an inch in an hour, that was it for here. I then drove to Guildford this morning, they have 3-4 inches, 5 miles down the road they had 10 inches! Pleased to say the gritters have done an excellent job of all the roads down here, they were well prepared. Back up to Norfolk tomorrow!
  11. Good luck, i've asked more than a few times, but because the action is further down south Norfolk has been ignored despite it being in East Anglia.
  12. I'm with you. I have asked a few times about this. Norfolk has been the only part of the country that has missed this event, and for the foreseeable future, looks like it will remain virtually snow free, from every angle be it east, north south or west, it misses us. Annoying i know.
  13. They add anti waxing agents in diesel from abour Oct/Nov onwards, so i wouldnt worry. It would have to be well below minus -10 to consider cutting it with anything, petrol being the best but this will vary from car to car.
  14. A serious question, i am about to leave Norwich this evening, to stop off at Swanley in Kent and then Guildford in the morning. I am aware of the risk of problems Guildford area, but for my journey back north on Thurs night, am i likely to encounter any problems?
  15. Every chart i see shows Norfolk being totally missed out in this snow event of the past 30 years. Can anyone tell me if we are like to see more than 1cm in the next 4 to 5 days?
  16. The dusting this morning isnt even worth mentioning, its already melting.
  17. And a disappointment for Norfolk as well. We didnt get much in the last snow event either.
  18. From those charts above it looks like Norfolk will get hardly anything. However, it been lightly snowing for the past hour and a half and about a cm on the frozen ground, this will regardless be chaos! :o
  19. I can beat that, i have Norfolk to Guildford on Tues night, then back again Thursday night
  20. We travelled down from Norwich to Swanley earlier, i had no idea we would be hitting heavy snow on the way. At first it just reduced visibility but then it started to settle and traffic was down to about 20mph in places. We witnessed one crash where a car had spun and hit the barrier. We had a heads up, that the Asda car park in Swanley has cars stuck in there for hours, and the main London Road was gridlocked. We approached through some minor roads, generally ok to pass, but then we came to Hextable and saw the slush that had frozen to thick ice about an inch in places. Twice i nearly hit the kerb as the van slide sideways and i was only going about 2 mph! I have never seen roads freeze like that, i've only been driving 11 years but i have driven in snow and ice before, this was something else. My guess is that the ground is still below freezing, despite a thaw taking place this is then freezing again on the ground. The rain then snow on top of the ice has created a lethal combination, i would urge anyway who is thinking of going out in this area to NOT bother. My main concern is of reports there will be more snow for the south east/London overnight. Is this true? If the temperatures stay below freezing i may just stay at home.
  21. When i went into the city on Saturday some areas were slushy.
