. Based on that the models for last 24 hours has been keen on the shower activity pepping up over our neck of the woods later this evening/overnight. On weather observation map on weatherworld you can see the blue (freezing air) edging closer and closer to us.. Bbc weather has just mentioned a more persistant area of snow pushing into northern england tonight. Thats what it's based on : ) )

Should be a great night ahead for western areas! Showers should become more frequent overnight and the colder air is really starting to dig in! Some areas could get a pasting as streamers and more organised bands of snow push in. And due to the liveliness of these showers we could see snowfall rates of upto 2"/hour...

You will be fine, although it shows heavy snow most of the day. Doesn't mean all this will settle.. Will be a case of frequent heavy snow showers with snow settling on high ground at first but the snow line lowering as the day wears on. Skipton might have a couple cm by late afternoon, I wouldn't expect wetherby to have more than a light slushy covering at best. Later on tuesday interests me though, looks like between 18:00 tuesday and 6am wednesday is our main window for snow to low levels. Showers should become more frequent with maybe a more organised band of snow from the west, with temps at there coldest of this cold snap. I would say 1-3cm quite widely with 5-10cm 200m+.. Obviously north and west yorkshire highest risk.

I agree I think there are a lot of exagerated snow depth reports in the midlands thread! looks more like 2-7cm widely not 10-15 cm

2 days ago it looked like us getting plastered, but we've all been there many times before and I don't think anyone got drawn in
  7. Latest charts are huge downgrade for most. Early this morning it looked like north and west midlands would get 10-20cm snow, now looks like 2-5cm... Still better than nothing
  8. Yorkshire & E England Regional Weather Discussion

Very dissapointing, 2 days ago yorkshire was in the firing line to get the pasting, now baring south yorkshire looks like nothing at all.. Only straw left to clutch is that the precipitation pushing into cornwall and ireland now is way further north than forecast on the charts for 18z....
  9. lol was just tongue in cheek. Really hope we can get something but can't see it now with all this stubborn cloud inhibiting our chances
  10. I really hope so! Cos if I get nothing again I'm throwing myself out my third story window..
  11. The cell over north wales seems to be heading our way, Im hopeful for this evening!
  12. The cell over wales seems to be expanding/intensifying as it edges NEE, could finally be our turn (leeds) for some action later!
