Haha...not sure @Cakie would agree. That storm looks insane
Not the best ever (Ottery St Mary) but really long. Around an hour, with lots of lightening and thunder, including some very loud thunder

Pretty decent storm hitting us now. Almost constant thunder, frequent lightning and heavy rain.
Sucking some of this horrible hot air out of the house.
That thunder is something else, like a cannon being fired and the rain has gone insane

Every spider in our house is a boy. My daughter hates them and we have to get them out. They don't bother me too much unless they catch me unawares. I hate daddy longlegs though, I think it's because the boys used to throw them at us in Primary school and they would get tangled in your hair.
I've just been thinking how few wasps I have seen this year but the most dragon flies. Maybe weather related?

The intense rainfall tended to come in surges in Bridlington and more general light to moderate stuff but occasionally it was like a monsoon outside and the wind was blowing strong !
It looked pretty severe on the radar. We had persistent rain with heavy intervals and localised flooding but nothing too bad

Just over the border in Co Durham we had 35mm in Darlington. I was watching the radar with interest to the big red blob over the NY Moors. Flooding must have been bad in some areas

The last week of July and first week of August was the warmest spell I think. The 26th July was the warmest day of the summer here when it reached 26.5C. The days after were generally 22-25C.
I think that was the day. We were moving overseas so it had to be the last day of school. Thankfully a neighbour cooked us a BBQ that night, I was in no state to think, let alone cook

I'd forgotten how poor 2014 was for higher temperatures. Looking through my records, only 14 days surpassed 23C in the entire year - the last of which was 8th August. The summer had just three days above 25C and the absolute max was 26.5C.
The only positives from that summer were that June was dry and July very sunny (248 hours), but that's about it.
I moved out of my house in Devon in late July 2014, it was crazy hot. The poor removal guys were bright red by the end of the day.
