My snow will also turn to sleet and wash away the snow. I always feel ridiculously sad when the snow melts away. There is hardly anything of the earlier snow left here now, but I am glad that I took some pictures of it at about 7am. I shall tootle over to the mad thread and see if there will be any more in a few days’ time, as that was what was being said a few days ago.

Ah, I have just checked the met office website and see that there are a few hours of snow to come here this afternoon! Lovely!
Edited to add that it will be rain all day tomorrow, so shall make the most of this afternoon!

Just had a 2 hour snooze and woke up and it's still snowing here!
Are you currently in Bristol or in Bridgwater? I am just to the north of Bristol and it is just drizzly rain here now, melting all of the lovely snow. If whatever you have could spread slightly north, then that would be lovely!

A HUGE “thank you” for your help with this, Paul. I hope you get lots of snow!

Hello! I was formerly registered here just as ‘noggin’, but a change of broadband provider etc and change of email address meant I couldn’t sign myself back in (am useless at that sort of thing) so I have re-registered with a new name. Plus some other stuff as well. Such a relief to be back, but sad to have lost so much history though. Plus my badge.
Anyway, we have had an inch or two here, although some has melted. Light snow falling now. Shall try to attach some pictures of the back garden…

BUSES.....All bus services in Bristol, South Glos, W-S-M, North Somerset and Wells tomorrow are cancelled until at least 1pm. Limited services in Bath.
Ian Ferguson said that this storm could be "of historic proportions".
I must check to see if my MOT and service are still on!

It's not about being a coward.. I get why some don't like wind storms.. l only live a short distance from dozens of coastal points. When I was a nipper, my dear old dad would take me to these places during strong winds/thunderstorms etc, so it's something I really enjoy.
I hope you have a great time! When it's windy, for me it feels like a physical assault! Give me torrential rain anytime...I could go out and revel in that!
When I was a little girl, oh so long ago, I used to think that the splashes of the raindrops on the ground were fairies! I have loved the rain all my life and even now will stop what I am doing to watch or go out and enjoy it.
I see that the Met Office has now issued a red warning for Bristol Channel area.

I'm looking forward to it! I'm not sure where to head to tomorrow morning.. probably at Alban's head, that a great open space.
Do you know what? You have just made me realise what a cowardly wimp I am! Perhaps I ought to go out and FEEL it, rather than cower in a corner!

I'm glad that it's not just me who is getting anxious .....yesterday was bad enough, but tomorrow will be worse. Am taking car for it's service and MOT tomorrow morning, will probably get blown there! Stay safe everybody.

I must confess that I am being drawn into the "will it/won't it snow at Christmas" thing! My heart wants it to snow, but my head doesn't! Very foggy all day here.

Had a slight frost on Wednesday morning, just on some roofs, where there was obviously no loft insulation. Had a proper frost on Thursday morning, had to scrape the car. Certainly a bit late this year.

A very, very light dusting here.

Sorry to be grumpy, but next door's dog won't shut up yapping and they seem to be banging doors for a past time at the moment. I won't post any more until my mood has improved. Don't want to infest the thread with misery! Good luck everyone, anyway! ❄❄❄❄❄❄❄

I don't have the strength to do any more straw clutching. What a complete and utter load of bilge this has been for many of us. Sorry to be such an old misery guts.

Final "chart post" from me for this morning, 03z UKV extended now coming into range for Thursday/Friday. Very similiar to other model output, the front giving snowfall to Devon and even Cornwall on this run;
Before fizzling out as it reaches areas further north and east. This is about as good as it gets for the Bristol/Somerset area for example;
Therefore, milder air manages to get into Cornwall, majority of the rest of us remain cold to very cold but dry and snowless;
Your posts are very much appreciated, AWD, thank you!

Already a couple of degrees colder than METO forecast here, could tonight be an all snow event????
That would be good as we have several hours of heavy rain to come, apparently. If it did fall as snow, it would be magical!

Snow to the East of here and snow to the South of here! Might have to go and visit family in Exmouth for a fix! ❄

Sorry to be pedantic, but wasn't the freezing rain event at the end of December 1995?
I knew roughly when it was, but checked on the Met Office website and it said 24th and 25th January. P.S. I don't mind the pedantics!

Yes, people were falling over like ninepins, including me! It is SO dangerous. My first fall was when I stepped out through the front door, I hadn't even seen it! If we do get it again, I am not going anywhere!

Freezing rain. A quick look in the mod thread revealed one chart showing what is thought to be freezing rain for us. Does anyone else remember January 1996? I have never experienced anything like it and never want to again.

Drizzly and windy here now, but still a bit of snow left. Met Office says rain all day tomorrow, with thunderstorm at about mid-day. What a change between the two days! We need the rain though, as it has been so dry lately.
