  1. It's big fat NO from Coalpit Heath........and I can see a nice pink sunset to the West.
  2. Ah, well, it's the No Snow Club then............anyone else want to join?!
  3. Thank you Jethro and Khodds. I am at home now and have the TV on. There was just a trailer for the early evening local news and they had the snow as the lead item..........they showed a map showing the whole West country covered with it! That is what I call exciting......I am doing a little excited jig on the sofa!
  4. Hello, may I come back? Have not posted for, probably a couple of years, due to all sorts of reasons, one of which was I could not remember my password! However, the possibility of some white stuff seems to have jogged my memory! I have been reading the forum regularly though and always felt a bit left out that I could not join in., I have a new device and am still trying to get to grips with it, so my post may seem a bit stilted. Anyway, how exciting this all is, the excitement of maybe seeing some white stuff is currently outweighing the possible horror of driving around for work all day. Anyway, I hope everyone is blessed with lots of snow over the next day or two!
  5. Well, I can't help with a weather forecast, but I will say that cancelling tomorrow is a brilliant idea. I was at Westonbirt on Tuesday......it was heaving with thousands of people, due to it being half-term! I've never seen so many people there in the 25 years that I've been going! Hope it works out for you for next week!
  6. Yes, if I recall correctly, the forecast last night said temperatures would drop to about 5 degrees in more rural areas! Not that I'm complaining...... I prefer the cold!
  7. Yes. I like spotting shooting stars too! By the time I've thought of a wish, though, they've already gone! Is it the Perseids meteor shower (or something) during August and September? I like anything like that in the night sky, although i'm not very knowlegeable on the matter. Richard Angwin always used to let us know if anything was happening and how to spot it. I can't recall whether or not our fergieweather does the same? PS Many thanks to ARTDEMOLE for answering my question re the Perseids........before I'd even asked it, too!
  8. I'm enjoying this nice quiet spell of weather........not too hot, not too wet, not too windy. Just calm and nice. Off to a flower and vegetable show this afternoon, always like to see the misshapen vegetables!
  9. Yes, it was much cooler. I had to put the duvet back on the bed.......first time for weeks!
  10. There are some people with certain medical conditions for whom the intense heat of a week or so ago can prove fatal and It's not a case of being able to stay indoors with curtains closed and the fan on, either, because you still have to go out to earn a living .It ain't no fun wondering if you are going to make it through. There is a serious side to the intense heat, just as there is to the extreme cold.
  11. The other way round from me, then. Jolly nice to know that it's darker at 5am though, it'll soon be dark for me at 6am.....something to look forward to!
  12. Only if you like sun and heat! Some of us like it colder and darker..........it takes all sorts! Personally, I can't stand hot weather and it makes me snarl (!) when I see posts in the model output discussion thread celebrating and cheering when another horrible hot sweaty spell is coming up! But, yes, I have noticed with pleasure how the nights are drawing in. Haven't seen any change in the mornings yet, although I get up for work at 6o'clock.
  13. A dirty black/orange cloud, some flashes of lightning and a tiny rumble of thunder here. I wouldn't have known about it if I hadn't gone out to get the washing in!
  14. A burst appendix. That must have been awful. Here's wishing you a very speedy recovery! PS Don't get too excited.......think of your stitches!
  15. Sunshine and showers here. Yesterday's rain filled my two new water butts lovely and my straight sided bucket collected just over 2" of rain.
  16. Thank you AWD. Answering all of our questions and explaining things......it's like having our own meteorological agony aunt. uncle! Either that, or an infant school teacher explaining why we can't always have what we want! You have the patience of a saint!
  17. http://www.meteox.co.uk/h.aspx?r=&jaar=-3&soort=satradar Don't know how reliable this is, but it's all going off to the East. Are we going to get rain or will it be another let-down? I sound like a right old moaning minnie, but this blasted rain that we keep getting forecast(ed) just doesn't ever seem to materialise. Grumble, grumble..........
  18. I gather that there was tumbleweed blowing around in the SC forum so it was decided that it would be merged with a neighbour. I agree with you though..........hearing what's happening in Hampshire isn't very helpful if you are in, say, Cornwall!
  19. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/forecast/winterbourne-(south-gloucestershire)#?tab=fiveDay Hmmmm, no thunder forecast for here. Still, I've managed to get my two water butts plumbed in, I just hope I've done it right and the rain doesn't spew all over the place!
  20. Well, just in case that lovely lot of rain does come at the weekend, I'd better get my two waterbutts plumbed in. That should be fun.......I have to drill holes and cut through the downpipes to fit the diverters. Oh, I've just seen the forecast on the beeb........they have it more to the East; might only be a bit for us. Have to wait and see, I suppose.
  21. It seems like months since it rained here. Even the other night it was only a few drops. Having moved house last year, I have planted my new garden up this year and I'm getting fed up with constantly watering everything with the watering can. Being on a water meter, I keep thinking how much every can full costs! Not that I'm tight or anything............
  22. Oh, dear, that all sounds a bit grim. I haven't caught the BBC forecast and don't feel up to trawling through the Model Discussion thread, so........have we got a downgrade? Are we not going to get any rain? Ah, I've just seen the forecast on the beeb.....rain, but no thunder and lightning then (imby) . Don't want to be a party pooper, but although thunder and lightning would be nice, it's the rain that I'm really after, plus a drop in temperature!
  23. http://www.metoffice.gov.uk/public/weather/observations/winterbourne-(south-gloucestershire)#?tab=meteo 30.5c at Filton at 4o'clock. I hope to goodness that we will get some rain and thunderstorms. I'm melting here and as for my poor old garden............
