I shot them loose in hand (No mono or tripod).

Very unusual to see, hole-punch clouds like this are still the topic of meteorological speculation. A leading hypothesis holds that the hole-punch cloud is caused by falling ice-crystals. The ice-crystals could originate in a higher cloud or be facilitated by a passing airplane exhaust. If the air has just the right temperature and moisture content, the falling crystals will absorb water from the air and grow. For this to happen, the water must be so cold that all it needs is a surface to freeze on. The moisture lost from the air increases the evaporation rate from the cloud water droplets so they dissipate to form the hole. The now heavier ice crystals continue to fall and form the more tenuous wispy cloud-like virga seen inside and just below the hole. Water and ice from the virga evaporates before they reach the ground.

Agree with the others who have commented on your pics. Outstanding, and if you don't mind my saying so, probably your best set of pics to date.
1,250 pics in 8 days, blimey!! I took just over 500 in 10 days when I was in South Devon earlier this month. Would have been far more had I had a larger SD card (4Gb initially but did take videos as well so...) Now have an 8Gb.
Just out of curiosity, what camera do you use? I ask because the picture quality is again to use the word, outstanding.
Phil.
Hi Phil,
Thanks for the great coments.
I use a Canon EOS 350D with a 4Gb CF Extreme III card and a sigma 18mm-200mm f3.5-6.3 telelens Iam not totaly heapy with the lens because autofocus is a bit slow at 200mm.
The panoramas are stitched with autostitch.
