  1. Not always - often we've had northerlies and cold air embedded with lows coming through the channel affecting a lot of the southern half of the country with snow. Right now any cold will do me so a northerly will be much better than the last 5/6 weeks
  2. Ah the long sunny summers of Alberta...and winters for that matter. Perfect minus the mosquitos
  3. There's always a lot of talk about the beast from the east on this thread - here's a great vid (apologies mods if its off topic too much - feel free to delete) of how the models were in the run up to the great Jan 1987 event running from December (which shows a surprisingly similar mild trend to this December) to the big event. I'm not implying in anyway its at all similar this year just interesting.
  4. My father in law just facetimed from Val Thorens and its dumping snow there right now. They've probably already had 10cm this morning. Lucky devil
  5. the Internet country code top-level domain for Finland
  6. How about that frost this morning....I had to take a double look. Always nice to see...Only the 2nd time this winter for me. Madness I tell you....madness.
  7. Here's a few pics of the snow earlier at blue bell hill. Not much but great for mid Nov.
  8. I feel for you - the first flakes of the season...however I'm pretty sure def not the last for us in Medway.
  9. Heavy snow at blue bell hill north Kent and sticking to everything. Looks great - 600ASL
  10. 1.5 ft of snow in 24 hours in Canmore, Alberta (canadian rockies)...cleared up nicely now. Good work town snow ploughs Here's a timelapse of the last 30 days of the same town.....lots of snow in the last 6 days http://www.lookr.com/lookout/1401205064-Canmore#action-play-month
  11. It will be for us in Gillingham/Medway as most of us under 150m. Even if we get any precip it'll be the likes of blue bell hill that might get some settling on grass/cars but more than likely wet snow....still good for end of Nov Gills!
  12. I do envy your location and more specifically your elevation. I left London at 4:30pm it as 9oC It went to 8oC by 5:30pm Down to 7oC at 6:30pm Now down to 6oC at 7:30pm
  13. http://www.lookr.com/lookout/1248288920-Canmore#action-play-day 24 hour time lapse of Canmore (Canadian Rockies) They are in the middle of a snowfall warning maybe up to 30cm's within next 12 hours
  14. And north kent - we got slammed that day and it was the first time I heard thunder snow. Good times.
  15. January 1987....Walderslade, Kent. 2.5 feet of snow and -10oC now that's'a cold spell!
  16. I have literally just read this article on the most northern university in the world   http://edition.cnn.com/2015/09/29/travel/arctic-university-longyearbyen/index.html   good luck, enjoy :-)
  17. The sun is really trying to come out here at the mo. I'm waiting for it to dry the grass out a bit so I can get a cut in
  18. same here - it's only just starting to clear but very cloudy. Thought it was supposed to be sunny all weekend
  19. I think you're thinking bees, that leave their stinger behind - in contrast to the honey bee, the common wasp and hornet can both insert and withdraw their sting with comparative ease. The single wasp is therefore able to deliver multiple stings with ease. This multi-sting capacity suits its generally more aggressive nature and you will often find that wasp and hornets will try and sting their victim more than once. (I obviously waited until the 5th sting before killing it - maybe I was feeling generous in my sleep lol)
