It was starting to settle at the top of the M606 and into Bradford this morning. It's fluffy rain in the centre - snow that isn't settling.
Will find out how bad it gets as I make my way out of the centre later.
My CCTV at home shows slushy wet snow that is settling on roofs and cars.

I'm gonna scoot to Bradford and get the jobs in the centre done. If I can avoid snow and the roadworks then I will be happy!

Wonder how bad Bradford is going to be, I need to do a couple of jobs in the centre. Battling the roadworks isn't too bad, getting out is what worries me...

Given my work load on Thursday, I am keeping an eye on things. Thank you all for keeping this thread updated with local variances in the model runs.
Work car is a PHEV automatic SUV (not my choice, FWD) with just D/N/P/R, nothing else. Don't fancy it's chances in Snow. -
It didn't seem overly bad in my corner of Leeds, it's fairly sheltered. Nothing woke me up overnight.
Hope the recovery for all who had major damage is swift. Hats off to the utility workers who brave the conditions to restore power. -
Is it meant to turn westerly in the early hours?

Are the warnings likely to be amended later if the need arises?

Must admit, having the coverage we do of warnings is better than it not being mentioned.
I usually hear about warnings and then follow things on here. I suspect alot of the public will hear of warnings in the news and then watch the forecasts themselves.

I agree with this so much.
Too much hype will desensitise people. When something comes around like tonight, there's a risk of people thinking it's more of the same.

I've optimised mine for efficiency and cost without making the house cold for my father. The house ranges from 18.5ºc to about 21ºc and i've made good use of the thermostat programmes!
My bedroom on the other hand has it's own heating from the PC with the VR rig going every night! The radiator isn't set high and if I slide the window shut, it'll get uncomfortable unless there's strong westerlies.

Certainly interesting watching things progress. I'm keeping a keen eye on it, really don't want to get stuck at a job site or on the roads in a snowstorm. Work got new company cars and I don't rate their chances in the snow - MG HS PHEV's....
I've got the 19th off. It can snow all it wants then.....

Interesting watching how next week is progressing in the models. Must admit, i'd rather not have the snow and super cold temps that follow. Aside from having a driving job, I don't think the boiler and pipes will cope.

Been wondering if it's going to be another ''curse of the 10 day models'' thing again.... will it always be 10 days out?

I dunno, looking on the charts page for max gusts it shows the reds move in for the south and then they move up in the early hours to our area on the 28th. Keeping an eye on it.
Trying to find out how windy it'll be on Christmas Eve given the warning that appeared. Just looks like a brief spell of wind, bit like what'll be happening during the afternoon on Monday....

Snow starting to settle in Bradford Centre, roads out got progressively worse with settling snow. M606 was getting bad but that got better as I got to the M62. M621 was notably slushy and starting to turn white.
It's enough to turn everyone on the roads into nervous learners.
