  1. Head up to the parking area at the top of Sutton Bank. Huge view looking west/south west from there.
  2. Must admit, i'd not like it to be overly damp. Cooler, freesher I welcome at this time of year when work throw large projects at me but the damp prospects will make it difficult since water and electronics don't mix. I've a massive project coming up in the North East in July.
  3. I'd be inclined to go park up at Rosedale Chimney and use the elevation and views for awesome storm photography.
  4. They seem to be very hit and miss these days. We have had interesting storms which have given massive rainfalls. August 2005 and May 2016 spring to mind round here.
  5. Not heard anything down here in East Leeds yet. It's getting very dark though.
  6. I think i'm too far east given the direction the storms are going. Bradford looks to be in a good place though!
  7. Eying up that line of storms as it slowly inches north. Just as long as the radar doesn't do this:
  8. Nothing woke me up here in Leeds, though it looks like it got wet outside at some point. Anyway, hoping we get a juicy storm here later. Not expecting much though as previous years with high potential always dissapointed.
  9. What's your a/c unit? I've started to leave mine on overnight and use the quieton earplugs so I can sleep properly. Tiredness and having a job where I drive for a living do not mix well.
  10. Lovely morning so far. Opened the downstairs west windows and the cool rush of air is lovely.
  11. I upgraded my upstairs windows and chose a modern sash window (was expensive) especially for my a/c as it's a rare 240V twin hose unit. Single hose units will vent through casement windows fine and I don't recommend sealing it as the exhaust will create a negative air pressure in the room. If you seal the window, the air lost out of the exhaust will be replaced by hot air from the house and you'll notice the a/c unit feels useless. Don't extend the hose either, try pick a location below the vent so the unit will make use of the air that comes in from the open vent.
  12. The lack of moving air is something I find worse than the unescapable heat feeling. Working outdoors, I deal with the heat and adjust daily tasks to suit but with the air quality is triggering Asthma, it's not easy to deal with that so well. Similar happens in Winter with the cold air but there's less neighbours having BBQ's.
  13. Mine draws 1350KW when the compressor in it runs. That cycles on and off to maintain the set temperature. I'm still on an old fixed tarrif of 17p/KWh and over the weekend I spent less than £2.50 on electric per day and I keep the unit on the entire daytime if i'm home. I do have solar though but best example was the 40C period where I left the unit set to 24C for 4 days solid. That cost just under £5 per day in power.
  14. Yeah it does make people easier to anger. I see it in car parking when there's issues with paying or exiting and on the roads.
  15. Upstairs landing here is 26C, downstairs around 24-25C and my bedroom 22C till I turn off the a/c just before bed. I'll put a fan on overnight and sleep fine.
  16. Sitting here waiting patiently for the E/NE to be in on the fun. Plenty of time left in the season.
  17. It's one of many reasons as to why I got the decent a/c and a suitable sash window for in here.... VR and modern PC components don't half make good heaters. Other is the vintage audio video equipment that also generates heat.
  18. Hah! True.... I tolerate heat and the cold. I tend to prepare for summer with the reverse of how I prepare for Winter, except I have limited fun in Summer with keeping a fleece on in this weather. It's amazing how many people that triggers to quite worrying levels. It stops me burning. Admittingly I find it easier to keep warm than cool and the fleece thing won't help that. I can last 2-3h in high heat till I run back to the car to cool off or grab something tasty from a coffee shop. I have a/c at home but it's not set ice cold. It's an expensive and super rare double hose portable that I set to 24C which keeps the room at a pleasant 23C without costing a bucket to run.
  19. If only that storm area to the south of Sheffield was moving directly north....
  20. He's not the only one! I know loads that hate it and plenty more that hate it when hot days last for longer than a few days to a week... Most are my gaming friends and those who work in places that aren't nice in hot and still conditions.
  21. Up here it's already nudging 29C. Could well pass 30C before sunset if the cloud keeps away.
  22. I'd like something up here in Leeds but it can wait till the garden refit is done first....
  23. Dunno, there's something showing on the radar over Leeds that might or might not turn into something.
