  1. Some current webcam images from the Isle of Lewis.December really has been good for snow…north of the border.
  2. Well so far on the Isle of Lewis, this summer has been crap.Windy, cool, dull, damp…crap and with no indications of any change to weather patterns in next ten days, the status quo will continue.I might watch some documentaries on how climate change is going to melt Europe or I might just dig out that classic film ‘The day the earth caught fire’.Whatever happens in the remainder of the summer away from these western isles,I will be looking forward to winter due to the guaranteed appearance of snow, ice, severe gales here, however I know for sure,no matter how cold,or how snowy or how windy it is here (and on mainland Scotland for that matter) will the U.K. media care.So let it be written,so let it be done.
  3. Meteorologically, business as usual up here but watching with concern as we move closer to the hot days. .
  4. Oh Danny boy, like so many posters herein, they stay south of the Scottish Borders and forget that in Scotland we do have very different weather.Seems strange but it’s true.Granted, snowfall is vastly reduced this season but it’s been well stormy! Hardly anticyclonic. There’s been snowfall here on Isle of Lewis and sea level snowfall at that, with drifts on the modest hills lasting three or more days. This week, the Stornoway to Ullapool ferry sailings were cancelled for three days! Anti cyclonic nothingness? Maybe these types of declarations belong in the regional threads?
  5. Sea level snow and hail here at Port of Ness,Clisham pass looking good too.
  6. Many here in Scotland will see more snow as the warm front moves in later this week, being quickly followed by cold air for a time.
  7. Port of Ness taking some big waves this morning.Snowing too. FullSizeRender.mov
  8. The model thread ‘becomes’ the English regional thread if there’s a hint of snow in southern England.Anyway, the Clisham Pass on Harris just now…
  9. The post was a reply to a previous statement by another poster.Apps showing the snow chances for points north of the border and will most likely verify due to…being so far north.
  10. There is a difference between reporting and laying it on thick.
  11. Small consolation but imagine the mild horror people are experiencing in the Alps.
  12. As much as I like looking at these charts from years before computer models were invented,I ask how does anyone know what the pressure, synoptics and depths were in 1901? Are they crude extrapolation?
  13. Some wintry cheer on BBC4 tonight@ 9:00pm.Winterwatch 1963:The Big Freeze.
  14. I will always refer to John and Mushy with regard to forecasts. And why? Well kids,it’s time to grow up and measure yourselves against the reality of the reliable.
  15. And when Darren Bett just assured me of milder weather next week,I wished 25/11/2010 a happy anniversary.
  16. All the talk on the model thread regarding a breakdown of the heatwave when here on Isle of Lewis, there’s been little if any sunshine for days.Intermittent drizzle has just tempered the fire risk on the moors which has been high for a few weeks also.Currently 12c,cloudy and if there’s no sunshine soon the heat exchange between indoors and outdoors will result in the need for central heating to be put on.
