  1. Mark

    Thanks for the comments!

At the moment im concentrating on the top section of the garden [2nd picture from the last pictures i posted]

Im currently levelling all this section, then when this is levelled , im going to be concreting a section of this and use it for a seating area ,also im going to be putting two extra steps in either side , when this is done im going to be taking the fence down at the back , and then move it further to the back of the garden ,

    Nigel

    good luck with your garden

    Nigel,

What a difference :-) Keep it up but watch out the wind doesn't catch you out....seriously though well done :-)

  2. If your lucky enough to hear one it'll send a shiver down your spine.

Do they sound like a piercing Scream (Female)Hiya? Asking as the other week we were in Aberdeenshire in open countryside when this almighty screech came out from nowhere it was really piercing and that did send shivers up and down out spines.

We had though it was a woman but it was obvious a few screechy screams later it was some sort of bird (not a human one ;-)) well horrible though.

    Mondy,

I'll hunt you down and personally sign a pic for you ;-)

  3. But it wasn't white!

    Oh, dear heck...no matter..

Humble apologies for thinking you were one of the inferior race.LOL

Look it was white... ;-) it was the suns glare that made you think it wasn't ;-P I do wish you would get those eyes tested..

No worries :-) your forgiven..you a man it's expected Ha Ha..

  4. Yes it could be the white stork although there beaks are a little bit smaller..

Snapped this a few months ago.

Honestly, sifting through the various sites on the net with regards Heron's and their sizes, i really believe this was much larger. My initial thought was a stork, but weatherbitez has seen some around his parts too (he's just up the road from me) so i guess it was an adult Heron..

    Who knows..wish i had photo'd it

Oh, i'll be going back tomorrow to find my elusive bird alright  Bill Oddie hasn't a patch on me

Oii Mister He is a she tut ;-)...yup just felt and I'm a woman

When you actually look at the white stork and Mondy's pic there is immense similarity's so Mondy I think Northern Light is right..

    Well spotted Northern!

  5. You get close to a heron and they are sodding enormous!

I can attest to this. One plunged off my roof the other year and I nearly pee'd my pants! I thought it was a vampire!

Ahhaaa Lol @ vampire :rofl:  , they are big though and I wouldn't like to get too close to one,I bet they would give a nippy nip ;-)..

    Mondy,

Find it and get the BBQ fired up,I'll bring a bottle

  7. OOps, sorry Mr. S. Shouldn't have answered that one really, but I couldn't resist and our spectacularly good moderators have miserably failed in their duty to answer!! One day I hope to grow up to be a moderator of something, or a train driver, or a ballroom dancer, or something. I am a shadow miister and there can't be many of those who have answered you posts. Will that do?

    Paul

PS Actually, one day, I'd just like to grow up! (No; on second thoughts, scrap that comment, I don't ever wish to grow up; that would be nearly as bad as waking up to find I'd become a ballroom dancer!).

Well I was going to Answer however............................... somehow blue Isn't my colour :p

  8. Just to add, that the sunspot minima is now (not 2005). - The max is surprisingly forecast as soon as 2010.

The reason i know the minimum is now, is not through websites, but by being a radio ham and keeping a logbook of activity over the years. Simply put, the more sunspots, the better radio propagation.

Currently sunspots are few and far between. Which is why i'm stuck on here and not playing with my knob (on my radio)

I trust you do associate solar activity along with sunspot growth?!

The skip was not too bad a couple of nights ago, step dad got Fiji but like you say it's a little on the quiet side just now and I really wish you would leave that knob alone.......It's gonna fall off :p

  9. Being interested in odds and probablities, I'd always go for the most likely possibility and back that, until another more likely possibility comes along and replaces it. I'd have lost the bet, if that happened, but I'd be confident of not losing it, beforehand. I wouldn't back outsiders in the GW stakes, unless I knew more than the majority of the scientific community does. I'd always counsel others, to do the same.

    Paul

    Very nicely put Dawlish..
