  1. Message just in, storm, what storm? Its all quite here, see you tomorrow
  2. One of the issues at play is that people are not taking any of this seriously , as their phone apps are what counts weather wise. For reference in just south of Derby my weather app says Showers , Google weather also says winds 28mph , temp 10c so going by that nothing to worry about, not to bad and "stop fussing" As mentioned before we have had several weather warnings over the yeas and not much - if any of them have caused severe disruption . The HGV drivers will still be expected to go out on delivery s, the School bus drivers will still be carting the kids to the various schools and people - like me, will still be journeying to work and back ( i cant work from home ) no one - apart from those on here are taking any of this seriously - its just yet another warning over what will amount to nothing , plus in my location we are too far inland for anything serious to hit when heavy/ deep snow was forecast and warned about it only amounted to an inch with other places to the North, South, East and West got a huge covering , same again with winds no where near a coast and not north enough or even south enough. So with all that, and the fact that this will hit daytime with people carrying on as usual could be a factor *if*/ this thing comes off as forecast
  3. Weather warning for snow, at best we get a light dusting. Weather warning for wind, at worst a plastic chair may fall over, or a wheelie bin lid may pop open. Most people look to the weather app on their phone, my app is saying the worst weather for Friday will be a few rain showers, and the other one says a moderate breeze with scattered rain
  4. Second that, the general mood I get round here is that we are too far inland for anything dramatic, and jts just going to be a bit of a breeze. Still on for helping put up a fence
  5. Not a job, more helping a friends much older friend , location between derby and nottingham. The weather forecast phone app which they go by just says showers.
  6. I'm going to be out and about on Friday, helping to put a fence up near some woodland. Apparently an this talk of gales is scaremongering, as the severe stuff never hits inland
  7. Certainly something to watch out for if stormy weather is due during daylight hours with more people out and about , even more so if it hits early morning/early evening when people are travelling to and from work/school etc
  8. Just about to head upto North Derbyshire - Buxton Were going, "the vans loaded" as "there are only warnings about wind " and "its just a few flurries" ( in the southern tip of Derbyshire)
  9. Nothing here ( south Derbyshire) , any chance tomorrow, or later? the radar is showing nothing at all
  10. And out of nowhere, completely unexpected after thinking this will be just another miss - thunder just south of Derby
  11. Horrible, overcast, grey, dull, humid. are just a few words to describe today's weather not one rumble, not one drop of rain
  12. This morning looked promising for some action, watching the clouds grow, but they headed away and no more replaced them
  13. If its what i remember that was a bit of bizzare weather. At the time I couldnt work out what the fuss was about while there was snow on the gound it was only an inch at best, but as soon as you headed to the north to Derby there was loads of the stuff - same again in any other direction 10 - 15 miles out and deep snow. Derbyshire goes a fair way north, down in th Trent valley area, not far from east midlands airport the weather can be drasticly different
  14. Been a day of teflon non stick snow, just a few light flurries failing to make even a covering, the only things that seem to deliver snow round here are either front coming off the atlantic and hitting cold air - where the warm usualy wins out, or a chesire gap streamer - and last time i checked that wasnt to the east. looks like a similar thing tommorow and the rest of the week - col, yes, but not much chance of any real snow- when do we hit thunderstorm season?
  15. Got a feeling that for most of us this easterly will only deliver overcast and cold
  16. East midlands airport forecast says turning to snow from 21:00 METAR TAF : East Midlands Airport, East Midlands England EN.ALLMETSAT.COM METAR TAF : Current weather observation and Forecast, East Midlands East Midlands Airport England
  17. The reason why I'm highlighting weather apps is down to the fact that i have a love/hate relationship with snow and what the app says fits my pessimistic side of things, plus I've seen many last minute weather model backtracks ( ive been accused of crying wolf on more than one occasion as a result of model changes) And that most people will look to their phones an apps for the forecast and event/work planning
  18. BBC weather app Today: Light rain showers and light winds Sunday Gusty winds, and light snow temp 2/1 Monday light cloud and moderate breeze Tuesday light cloud and moderate breeze Wednesday light cloud and moderate breeze Thursday light cloud and moderate breeze Same thing until Sunday 14th, where light cloud is replaced with sunny intervals
  19. The BBC weather app is having non of this snow nonsense - cool temperatures just above freezing ( so not even any ice days) with "light cloud and light winds" throughout the entire week
  20. Cold, wet and horrible here, no sign of any snow on the Airport forecast either : METAR TAF : East Midlands Airport, East Midlands England EN.ALLMETSAT.COM METAR TAF : Current weather observation and Forecast, East Midlands East Midlands Airport England
  21. Actually got snow now- on a day im not at work as well - going for a walk
  22. The Frost and ice that was on my car has now gone, looks like being a cool/cold grey overcast day , skies are darker to the south west, but no sign of any pernoctation. Weather radar shows something but its not quite reaching at the moment
  23. Burton is just to the South west of me, and watching the radar it now looks like the heaviest stuff is breaking into two as it approaches, meanwhile not even a flake. Its weird how any "weather" seems to split, or just miss altogether - there have been many cases in the past where its looked like doing something, I've been out at an event or elsewhere warned people about severe weather incoming and nothing, or nothing significant has happened
  24. Looking at the radar, it looks like its pivoting, and going to miss
