  1. BBC news page pic of the mass flooding at Beverley Westwood. Some local farmers saying that c. 75% of their fields are under water too. My village had flood alert warnings overnight. Thank goodness for the drier forecast as others have said.
  2. Japan hit by another massive earthquake The Noto region, already massively impacted by this morning's tremor and the following aftershocks, was hit by another magnitude 7 earthquake. The big tremor hit Noto at around 11pm local time (2pm GMT).
  3. Happy, Healthy New Year my local weather pals It's a rare beautiful clear, sunny day here today. Just enjoyed a quick walk round the block. Nearly got run over by white van man .. he wound down his window and said with a smile .. 'well that was nearly a very short year for you' LoL Phew. BL

  5. We all have our weather preferences .. but I can't think many will favour today's offering ! My curtains are still closed but I can hear the wind and rain beating hard on the glass. Nasty to be out in that. BL

  7. I see there is a Yellow weather warning for Wind for Christmas Eve', Sunday 24th, in our region. I haven't seen anything else about this as yet.

  9. Hi all, According to my readings I haven't got over 0° C here all day. An 'Ice Day'. We have had some freezing fog too. Been a cold job putting up the outside Christmas lights. BL

The regions included in the amber alert are: North East North West Yorkshire and the Humber The regions included in the yellow alert are: East Midlands West Midlands

  12. I see lots of reports of the Aurora tonight .. even far south. Been out for a look but it is largely cloudy here in E Yorks.
  13. Wow, how wonderful ! A sight I long to see. I was pleased to see your 'heads up', and rushed to look out but it was misty and murky .. fireworks and bonfires not helping. Seeing other beautiful photos on TV this morning, even from the far south. Argh. I hope I am lucky one day. Thanks WT.
  14. Thinking of all the good folks of the Channel Isles. Had one of my best ever hols there (Jersey) I hope the zoo animals are safe too. Must be very frightening indeed.
  15. Hi all, What might we get in terms of wind here in Yorkshire from the coming storm Ciaran .. I'm reading this chart as around 45 - 50 mph ? The rain will be the major problem perhaps.
