Taiwan has been struck by its most powerful earthquake in 25 years, which measured 7.4 in magnitude Officials have confirmed at least four people have died while rescuers are pulling out people trapped in collapsed buildings The epicentre is located about 18km (11 miles) south of Taiwan's Hualien city, according to the US Geological Survey The remote, mountainous region of Hualien was rocked by huge landslides, causing damage which could take weeks to repair Tremors were felt as far as the capital Taipei, with videos showing buildings shaking violently The quake initially set off tsunami warnings on the island and neighbouring countries, some of which have since been retracted

Morning all, Hope no one has suffered any major damage overnight ? Things seem OK here looking out now it is daylight. I'll walk round my village later for a look around. Wonder how long it will take to get your power back @Wold Topper The squall line going through was the most exciting/worrying moment here. One other weird thing happened .. this was before the big squall .. We opened the front door to get a feel of the conditions and the gales were making a strange, eerie pulsing sound .. just like a heartbeat. It was definitely a sound the wind alone was making. On reflection I wonder if it was the high speed of the wind with the open door, like the noise you get travelling in a car with a window open ?? Take care today all. Must be lots of debris about. BL
