My family arrived back into Heathrow from Ireland about an hour ago…was relieved they got down on the first attempt.
Some very strong gusts here in Bexley. During an impressive gust earlier, a huge chunk of render fell off our neighbour’s house, leaving our shared alleyway strewn with debris.
The only other time I’ve heard our garden doors creak so much was during Storm Eunice, so I’m going with the MetO Amber warning being totally justified on this occasion.

Looking somewhat underwhelming thus far this squall.
Wondering if the trough engagement with the cold front is what we’re about to see over Brest and then propagate north-eastwards through the evening.

Can’t believe it. Had a tonne of lightning and some intracloud thunder, but it seems the core of these storms has skimmed to my WEST!!! Unbelievable
-
Lightning has suddenly gone nuts - a few rumbles but I’m seeing IC lightning flashes every 1-2 seconds

I can get hear very distant rumbles to be fair.
Not where I am in Bexley yet - although to be fair can’t be long now. The flashes are getting brighter

Lightning flashes becoming super frequent now!!! No definite thunder yet though!

I think a plane is overlapping with the first rumble of thunder

There’s so much more lightning on blitzortung than I’m seeing at present - and it’s getting closer.
Usually it’s the other way around. There’s so much cloudy muck here it’s obscuring what otherwise I’m sure is an insane show!

Typical though we've had all Summer without hardly any imports from the channel but they happen right at the end of Summer
Best storms in my experience happen around the changing seasons - spring into summer or summer into autumn - the clashing of cooler/drier air against the hot and humid air bit like you see in the US - the strongest storms typically taking place around spring and again in autumn
-
Sounds like I’ve got a little garden mouse to keep me company too
Still seeing plenty of flashes but nothing stand out yet and certainly too far away for any thunder to be heard.

Got lightning to my north and south at the moment - and now west!

Bright flash then - though I know not from whence it came

Just saw my first definite flash all the way from here and through the humid misty fog. Come on!!!

I’ve lived in my house 8 years and what’s unfolding tonight is what I’ve wished for but not yet had. Storms exploding off to my west with then storms propagating slowly eastwards and sliding overhead.
Obviously can all change but this could be the closest to realising that hope!

The Channel at the moment is saliva inducing. Lightning strikes firing off everywhere!

The old man is snoring

It is 18C right now with an 18C dp! Unsurprising therefore that it’s suddenly turned quite misty!

I meant eerie but yes, I guess something is also Eire too
I hope that was a fateful Freudian slip

Something is just very Eire tonight
I bloody hope so!! Eire has been the storm capital of these isles this year!!!

Yet new sferics forming over Brest - mad!!! To be a Breton today rather than a Briton!

Hope it’s nothing too bad @BB1979
Exactly the same here @Thunders - the roar outside as the wind rips through the branches has sometimes sounded like a jet plane taking off!
