  5. I see the MetO has lost the BBC weather contract...although they won't say who has won it! No NetWeather perhaps??

    1. Dancerwithwings

The first one i ever seen was in May this year, i posted a couple of pics on this site and 'Interitus' told me what it was.

May Bugs, evil things. Sound like an Apachi helicopter. You could put a saddle on those bad boys and take a ride YUK

    4. Reevesie1

Yup May Bugs. The grubs (Chafer grubs) are more of a menace than than the adult bug. Live under the lawn and are slowly destroying back gardens across the country but particulary in SE London/NW Kent

  7. Watching stunning lightning and Gogglebox with the best person in the world...What more can anybody want on a Friday night :-)

  8. Is that it for thunderstorms now for 2014 I wonder? Has been a terrific year here (in the end). By the start of July 2014, it was looking like the worst ever (2 thunder days in total). Turned around dramatically to be one of the better years.

poor year here overall, only 2 notable storms day

    3. Lauren

Indeed, reminded me of the MCS of the 90's, but not quite.

    4. Iceaxecrampon

Not a sosidge up here (NW)

  9. Wicked 12 hours - had a gorgeous thunderstorm in the early hours with some very close CGs and torrential rain, followed by a borderline severe storm this afternoon with large hail and very strong gusty winds...whoop!!!

    1. lassie23

it's all down to opinion's I've liked this month much more then the previous 2

Apart from the thunder, this month has been crap here. Relatively cloudy and clammy for the first week and a bit. Now utterly boring imho. Polar maritime dross, without even the big showers that can sometimes result

    4. Milhouse

Its been very unseasonal. Very little opportunity to go out in shorts and t shirt, it was too cold and windy for a bbq last weekend and the house is cold too. Im not impressed :(

  11. Nice CG to my NW - 2014 is turning out to be a great year for thunder and lightning

    1. karyo

Proof that we don't need heatwaves for thunder!

    2. Costa Del Fal

      Costa Del Fal

Pathetic storms in this airflow Karyo plus the cold Northerly airflow means areas like yours miss out most of the time!

  12. Brother's wedding on Saturday - the forecast could not look worse really!!

  21. So, Russia doesn't like Prince Charles' comments? Didums...if they don't like criticism, perhaps they can start by not invading other countries on a whim and stoking hatred!!

    1. Captain Shortwave

      Captain Shortwave

I think anyone in kent should be thinking of hopping on the ferry tomorrow to northern france. This looks like being a potentially severe day over the channel
