This is a pretty good one.

Hi CF, how are you? All good I hope, as much as I want to stay up I'm struggling so will keep the curtains and windows open and set the alarm for a couple of hours time :-)
Hi, I am doing good thanks. I reckon you stand a better chance of seeing something before me. It doesn't seem to be heading east very fast.

Mesoscale Convective System. In a nutshell: An organised cluster of storms.
Thanks for the answer.

First strike in the Channel below Jersey!
-
Looks like its about to hit the Channel and it's growing East-West all the time. Will this turn into an MCS that will kill our chances of decent convection on the morrow. We shall see in the morning.
What is a MCS please?

When's mother nature going to let us have it?????? I'm getting sleepy!
I reckon at least 4 hours to reach London so I would head to bed and set an alarm if I was you. Here I should get it about 2 hours earlier. I HOPE!

Yeah, these storms are so slow moving, it's going to be after sunrise before they hit the UK.
I beg to differ. I would say at the current rate it will be definitely no later that 2:30 - 3:00am. Most likely be earlier.

Anybody doing an all nighter?
I am doing until I see my first flash of lightning. Then I will go to bed after one more hour.

Well I was going to head for bed but it is getting close enough to the french Channel coast now for me to stay up and watch it in. Hopefully!

me no speakies good english, but nice man on TV says we get big spanish plums tonight....this is good ja? as we loves fruity weather!
hey, after several ciders at least my missus thought it was funny....good luck everyone!
LOL I love Spanish plums too. Preferably the ones with an 'e' on the end.
Several ciders...that's enough to make me bifurcate for sure!
Not so sure about the bifurcate bizzo but it seems to be spewing in all directions now.

I would guess at it hitting the Sussex coast at around 1:00 to 1:30 am unless it develops even more rapidly than now.
-
The two French storms are really kicking off now! If they keep heading in their current directions, I would expect the northbound storm to hit the Devon/Dorset coast as well as making a stop at the Channel Islands, and the NE bound storm to be a Kent clipper.
Certainly looking very juicy out there.
If it splits so much that it misses me I WILL SCREAM!
-
These storms over France seem to be developing rapidly now and spreading in all directions except South. Looks like it is game on for tomorrow and even for overnight for me. So hope I don't sleep through it. Maybe the dog will wake me. We get very few storms in Bognor so I reckon I am due a massive one by now!

what a fantastic site - thanks for sharing
love the "clicks"
Agreed, I just hope it continues to work as well once it reaches our shores.
-
You might have to wait a while though. It's only moved about 40 miles in the last hour.
Yes but the speed northward seems to be picking up rapidly!

This is a great site especially if you put the sound on and hear the 'ticks' as the lightning strikes. Definitely increasing the rate and speed..

The Nantes thunderstorm seems to be very slow moving, those that get it may have it for a long time. I wouldn't complain if I got it though!
Looks to be heading in my direction, I am happy to wait if the lightning is as good as shown on this webcam!

Wow its boiling here in Bournemouth, windy warm air, got all windows open now
Same here in Bognor. Been warm all afternoon as well as very windy. F5 gusting F6 but still very warm and humid.
Nuisance having windows open, neighbours having a very noisy garden party. Bring on the rain and lightning.

Definitely quieter here now. Only a Force 9 gusting Force 11. Didn't like those Force 12 gusts and it definitely did something to my roof because every time it gusts now it clatters.

some idiots on the bognor webcam running up to nd away from the waters edge. i hope to god they don't get swept away. what is wrong with people!
They left their brains in the nightclub on the pier I expect.
-
They were ones I slotted back in and botched after they blew out after Christmas, but are completely wrecked now! smashed up on my neighbour's garden. I think this is as rough as we've had it to be honest.
I agree, it is the roughest we have had it here for years. And we have had rough weather as a regular thing this winter..
The wind is starting to drop here and has slowly moderated for the last hour so I would say the worst is over here now. I Hope!

It's all mostly shingle. That's the hissing noise are the waves recede down the beach. I know because I used to wind surf there and at Selsey. The only place which is sandy is West Wittering at low tide.
LOL. Even Bognor is sandy at low tide. Used to be sandy all the way up to the prom but thankfully the local council realised the sea defenses needed strengthening and tons of shingle were put on the beach, over 20 years ago. The shingle doesn't get here naturally.

My parents are booked on a cruise on the Marco Polo to Norway on Sunday. So the ship seems to have had just the one day turnaround schedule to meet tomorrow at Tilbury.
I reckon they will take longer than one day to clean up the mess that ship must be in. I remember the state of the loos on the cross channel ferries in just a Force 9 wind. Awash with puke.
