  1. Looka good for the South coast on Thursday. I expect it will change when it comes to it though.
  2. I do like the look of this image for Thursday though. Edit: oh the chart didn't come on, what did I do wrong? Oh well ,cant do it so it is the GFS UK wind speed chart for Thursday 21:00
  3. And for Mere in Wiltshire the wind will be 0 with not enough force to lift a hair. Actualy wimblettben you will soon get used to the disappointments the weather brings on here. if you think this is bad, wait for when the snow falls everywhere except on you and on me. I will be weeping with you then. Don't give up hope, it is still too far away to call yet, I was told anything over 3 days and anything can change.
  4. Hi gottolovethisweather, long time since I was on here. I must admit I am looking forward to the liveliness in the weather tomorrow night. Looks good for the coast here, now I have to check the tide times as a good chance of the sea overtopping the promenade if it coincides with high tide.
  5. Wow, Netweather local forecast showing gists up to 61mph at midnight tomorrow and MetO showing possibly up to 76mph in gusts for the coast where I live. Taking a mean of those would mean I could possibly expect around 68mph gustsand upward. Not that unusual for the coast down here but interesting is the word I would use. http://www.metoffice...ap&locId=310031
  6. Ah that would be Utopia and I am not a believer. The dopey boy,(20 but useless) can't even remember the time of his test and has to ask his instructor on Tues, how useless is that! LOL Looks like tomorrow night will be pretty windy too, showing 44.9mph with 61mph gusts at 9:00pm tomorrow for here. Got to go and secure the garden and greenhouse tomorrow morning.
  7. Tx Polar Bear. His instructor said barring accidents or a miserable tester he should pass but if it is delayed another 6 weeks that adds up to a lot more lessons and he is unemplyed and needs a driving licence for the countryside work he is trying to get. Still, what will be will be. I love storms so am half wishing for the storm and half wishing not. If only it would come Sat or Thurs. Hope you will be near the sea front on Friday in Brighton, should look good there! By the way, i will defo be around if the snow comes or even this storm. been very busy lately keeping an eye on potential volcanoes.
  8. Thanks Jayces for the answer, I have just been reading back for more info but I suppose it is still a very fluid situation. Looks like I have to cross my fingers for him. He really can't afford to have his test cancelled as htere is a six week waiting list.
  9. I posted this on the regional thread but very quiet on there so I will ask the same question here. Does anyone know how likely the strong winds are for down on the South Coast on Friday? Only asking as my son has his driving test in Chichester on Friday and the winds look like being fairly strong. Currently it is showing gale 8 to gale 9. if it doesn't go higher he shouldn't get the test cancelled I think. However is there any chance this could still develop to a storm? Thanks if anyone can answer.

  11. I will wait patiently then and thanks for your confidence. :-)
  12. Huh!! I am very, very jealous, it is still 6C here and falling too, too slowly. I have yet to see a frost this winter. Still I suppose winter only officially began today. Time yet for fun and games but not this month for me I think. Good luck for everyone in the north though, looking good for some for some snow. Can't help but think back to last year though. *sigh*
  13. If you come from the South Coast and are snow starved and sick of warm rain look up this link. Even if you just want to prepare for the snow look it up! A pleasant foretaste for many and this is where it is coming from. http://eldgos.mila.is/austurvollur/ Oh it just stopped! Plenty still coming down here though. http://live.mila.is/tjornin/
  14. This webcam showing a lot of smoke, or is it ash?Duh! No link again! http://www.etnaweb.n...iata/webcam.php Could have waited for 5th November. looks like the ramains of a rather large bonfire.
  15. Poor people = poor houses, = poor constuctions = higher casualties = poor people! I feel so very sorry for these people as i expect the medical response will be relatively slow and the nights will be freezing. so sad.
  16. This eruption of Etna seems to be lasting longer than the last paroxysm, I am wondering how much the tectonic instability in the south of Europe is affecting it. There are certainly some fine views from the various webcams around Etna tonight.
  17. And yet more fireworks from Etna! http://www.radiostud...ebcam.asp?web=1 and fantastic webcam view here too. http://www.etnaweb.n...iata/webcam.php also chart of tremor rise. http://www.ct.ingv.it/index.php?option=com_wrapper&view=wrapper&Itemid=201
  18. Wow! Massive rise in quakes at El Hierro today. A total of 40 yesterday but today, already 38 quakes with the last one at 7:02 am local time. One of these quakes was a size 3 and the majority are deep which I have read means that magma is moving deep down. Can't seem to access the seismic charts today so far though. Looks like this could be another phase begining.http://www.ign.es/ign/layoutIn/volcaListadoTerremotos.do?zona=2&cantidad_dias=10
  19. Yes I would agree with you karyo. There is a steady daily increase in earthquakes again, with only 10 showing 4 days ago but up to 35 so far today and another 4 hours for more quakes yet today.38 now. Oops, forgot the link! http://www.01.ign.es/ign/resources/volcanologia/html/histogramaHierro.html
  20. Sadly I think it would also be very dangerous as there are so many people living around the lower slopes. Perhaps better to look to Katla for such a spectacular eruption, if we don't die of frustration waiting for it.
  21. Etna on fire again. A huge (for Etna) explosion and now a good view as the smoke is clearing. http://www.guide-etna.com/webcam/ http://www.radiostudio7.it/webcam.asp
  22. And now a 2.0 tremor in an interesting area of Katla. This does appear to show on the helicorder for katla area so is more likely to be accurate i reckon.
  23. Sadly it is once again downgraded to just a 1.9 quake. Katla is determined to keep us waiting, maybe for many more months yet.EDIT 17:09 today (Iceland time) another 3:00 quake showing in Katla caldera. This is however low quality, 66.45 instead of good quality at 99.0 so it could very likely be downgraded as the earlier one was. Nothing much seems to be showing on Jon Frimann's helicorders apart from apparent noise so I personally would be wary of the quality on this one. http://www.simnet.is/jonfr500/earthquake/tremoren.htm
  24. Yes. it is the first time I have been lucky enough to catch it. They have to keep pulling back the camera at this cam because the lava keeps flowing out of shot as it comes down the mountain. http://www.guide-etna.com/webcam/
  25. Lava at Etna flowing downhill fast now. Awesome. Yes, I only watched closely once darkness fell as someone on Jon Frimann's blog mentioned increased seismicity at Etna earlier today so I guessed we may get a good view this evening.
