  1. I think they mean lightning without rain, really hot summer days give elevated storms which are mostly lightning/ with little rain.
  2. Yes it also repeated the following night. Dry all day sunny warm then overnight 1am-4am it just seemed to explode into life. I remember very little rain
  3. The heat though... lovely Actually this is quite similar to JULY 18th 2014 there were some storms betweens 1-4am in Midlands, medium level, very little rain, lots of lightning.

  6. I think July 2014 were warm front storms, overnight 2 nights in a row. Pretty incredible lightning.
  7. that photo shows a midlands strike like the other maps have. So I think the West are in for storms tonight aswell, especially looking at Biscay

  9. Sferics are further west on current lightning map, in a line from Torquay down to Guernsey across.
  10. Taken about an hour ago facing towards Ledbury/Worcester direction.
  11. Detectors depending on the triangulation will pick up any electrical activity, sometimes they can pick up a discharge from power lines, factories, anything.
  12. Yes it';s just to my SW, will keep an eye on it as I thought I heard a rumbles minute ago.
  13. Can anyone with a zoom/editing video tool take a closer look at my attached timelapse loop. It appears to show dust/smoke/mist swirling up from the ground in the area highlighted. 20160608_180354.mp4
  14. Not a bad days chase, left Clee Hill around 2pm to chase towards the Wolverhampton/early Brum storm. Saw a couple of flashes, and heard a few rumbles but the darkness of the cloud impressed me more.
  15. Moving SE looking at the radar, although they are not moving much just forming. very little wind.
  16. Some rapid convection going up to the North of here, must be some of the showers forming over N Wales. Much better day visibility wise, lot more sunshine too.
