  1. I hate to say it but I think everything points to a mild, wet and windy winter
  2. It's quiet in here today. I though quite a few people would have posted about the dire conditions across South Wales at the moment. It's like the middle of November in Cardiff at the moment. Cold, wet and windy
  3. I have seen pink lightning, but was sheet lightning not fork. I thought at the time it may have been something to do with the light bending around the hills where the strikes were occurring at the time.
  4. Well which model do I choose for this area? GFS has storms here at midnight Met Office have storms at 3am ECM have storms at 6am Definitely will be watching the radar closely this evening
  5. Has been snowing/hailing off and on all morning in central Cardiff and looking at radar there is plenty more to come
  6. Disappointing storm last night. Only distant flashes and rumbles. Worked out the closest it got was about 4 miles away. Yet my friends in Abergavenny reported a big storm there overnight.
  7. Looks like something interesting will approach here around midnight. It's gonna be a late one!!
  8. Trees down on the roads around Morfa, but at least the sun has come out
  9. Looking at the latest GFS and longer term CFS charts today, I'm starting to get really worried that we maybe looking at a late 1990's style winter. High pressure staying over France and South/South Westerly winds constantly over the UK.
  10. This thread is surprisingly quiet seeing there has been a deluge for the last couple of hours. Our works car park looks like a moat
  11. We are all made up of energy and it scientifically proven that energy does not disappear. It has to go somewhere. So when we die that energy has to be released somewhere
  12. Not sure about a dry BH weekend, but yep next week does look good
  13. After a very sunny morning, some big towers have grown to the east of here in Swansea and are drifting this way. Could go bang this afternoon
  14. Some pretty high towers going up to the east of Swansea. Think the forecast maybe spot on in regards to thing possibly going BANG later
  15. Looking out of my office window (Swansea) there are signs of some towers starting to grow towards the Beacons. with the forecast CAPE and LI, I think somewhere in Wales could have a deluge later this afternoon
  16. What I notice about the runs is how dry the forecast is. Even during the hot month of July 2006, we had thunderstorms to deal with. The current output shows little in the way of convective potential, so I think this month could well be remembered for how dry it could be.
  17. Eactly what I was thinking. If the GFS 6z comes off then there could be a lot of thundery weather around through the middle part of next week
  18. Recorded 40mm of rain/sleet in Merthyr yesterday. Nice dusting of snow in the Beacons
  19. I noticed they mentioned snow for the Beacons tomorrow, but can't see how snow is going to fall at lower levels tbh
