  1. I'm not certain if this is due to how individual computers are set-up to save pictures, but I'm wondering if images of weather charts could always by default save as, for example, JPEG, GIF or PNG, rather than Bitmap. It would make sense, considering Bitmap images are not allowed in the forum posts due to their size. Ok, I can get around the problem by opening Paint and saving the Bitmap as, say, a JPEG, but this wastes time.
  2. I think Bristol City have a better chance of beating Hull City at Wembley than they would have had if Watford had won. I think it will be great for the city of Bristol to have a team in the Premiership and a team that could do quite well. But speaking as a Bristol Rovers fan it will not be so good to have a gulf of two divisions between the two clubs for the first time ever. However I am relishing the potential opportunity of meeting our Premiership neighbours!
  3. Boris Johnson was elected Mayor of London. Unfortunately, this isn't a joke at all!
  4. How Everton have managed to stay so high up in the Premiership table this season really baffles me, considering their frankly awful displays in the UEFA Cup matches against Mettalist Karthik. Ok, they won it 4-3 on aggregate overall, but Metallist Karthik were all over Everton at the Metallist Stadium. The first leg was even worse with Metallist Karthik looking better than Everton with just nine players on the pitch! How are they going to compete against the UEFA Cup's bigger sides? ANyway, back to the Premiership and Elano - what a signing by Manchester City! Two stunning goals scored on Sunday.
  5. Think we all thought that would be the score! Shame Watford weren't better earlier on in the season.
  6. I would like to add a new topic (but not sure exactly where to place it) about this weekend's weather. I believe some exceptional warmth will be realised tomorrow and Sunday and with 80 F certainly a possibility I thought this merits a new topic, maybe in the "Spring discussion" section. I am thinking of a topic thus: "This weekend's weather .... could we top 80F?" Maybe there's a similar topic in other parts of the forum that I'm not aware of. If so please could you point me in the right direction. There is an "Earliest we'll reach 80F" topic but for me that's not really suitable for discussing this weekend. I thought I would check with you before starting a new topic unneccessarily.
  7. I don't consider myself at all sexist when suggesting there are differences in stamina levels between men and women. Take the track events at the Olympic Games for example - the lap times are almost always quicker for men than women (or slower for women than men). The question is can a lineswoman reaonably be expected to keep up with the faster male footballers? If so then good for her!
  8. This is disgraceful from Mike Newell. OK - I understand what he is trying to say - that a lineswoman really shouldn't be officiating in a men's football match (owing to the difference in stamina levels between men and women). But to say this: "She should not be here. I know that sounds sexist, but I am sexist, so I am not going to be anything other than that" is absolutely disgraceful! And yet another gaffe further on: "This is Championship football. It is not park football, so what are women doing here? It is tokenism, for the politically-correct idiots." He should get in trouble for saying stuff like this. It is rather like Ron Atkinson's racist comments when the studio microphone was left on and he didn't realise. "QPR defender Marcus Bignot, who used to manage the Birmingham women’s team, attacked Newell for his remarks." - I'm not surprised! Here's the QPR Report in full:
  9. Please could the "ECMWF Chart Viewer" on "DataCentre" be updated, as it's currently showing 23rd & 24th July? Many thanks, Thundersquall.
  10. Why does a Security Alert appear whenever I click on 'Basic Radar'? This is what appears: "Information you exchange with this site cannot be viewed or changed by others. However, there is a problem with the site's security certificate." "! The security certificate was issued by a company you have not chosen to trust. View the certificate to determine whether you want to trust the certifying authority." "! The security certificate has expired or is not yet valid." "The security certificate has a valid name matching the name of the page you are trying to view." When I click on "View Certificate", this appears: "This certificate cannot be verified up to a trusted certification authority." It seems to happen on every computer I have used in the last several months.
  11. How do I get an 'emoticon' to appear by the Subject heading, as has occurred a few times? Many thanks - TS.
  12. Please could the "UKMO Chart Viewer" and "ECMWF Chart Viewer" be updated? They are currently showing 01/02 May (UKMO) and 30 April/01 May (ECMWF) Many thanks, TS.
  13. Could the "Forecast Skew-T" 's be updated, please? They are currently showing for 23rd to 26th March 2006. Many thanks, TS.
  14. Is there something wrong with the Winter area of the forum? I post a message and it appears, then it goes only for it to re-appear moments later. I've now moved to a different PC and all seems fine now - must be something to do with the previous computer's cache?
  15. Am I permitted to post images of charts (eg those from ECMWF) as JPEG? I have done so before, however JPEG format usually shows the image directly on the screen. I understand this is not allowed as the direct posting of images can violate copyright. For example, I was asked not to post images directly of Met Office radar maps, as this violates copyright. Am I correct in my understanding? The reason I ask is a member has requested I don't post .bmp images (which only show as a link to an image therefore there's no danger of copyright issues).
