  1. Something interesting building just to the south of Coventry at the moment. Looks like it might miss here, but looks quite intense none the less
  2. Finally stopping rain in Birmingham. However, the airport is still giving a 30% chance of heavy showers of rain and thunderstorms for the rest of the evening. Watch this space... It will probably come to nothing, but no harm in hoping!
  3. Apparently the 2nd photo of the funnel was taken by ATC up in Glasgow tower. Impressive none the less - what are the chances of that happening? I was saying earlier that I've been flying for quite a few years now, doing 4 flights a day and never heard "Funnel Cloud" on the ATIS or METAR at any given stage. What a piece of luck for all those who saw it yesterday!
  4. My mate who was flying this flight this afternoon just forwarded me this photo from Glasgow Airport... Not sure of the time, but apparently the ATC have some more photos of this funnel!
  5. ok... I've just got a text from my grandparents, who live 4 miles away from here: Hammock blown across garden, branches off trees, lots of flowers damaged and heavy stone bird bath on its side. I'm half tempted to go and have a look - sounds like a particularly nasty gust though?
  6. Bright and sunny here - tried to get footage, but grandparents called while filming, resulting in dropping of camera. So... Nothing from me I'm afraid, I can still here thunder though.
  7. Storm now directly overhead. Thunder constant. Lightning constant. Amazing!! I'm going to try to take some photos with my phone... This is quite amazing.
  8. Ok, it's better here again... lightning every 30 seconds and pretty much constant, quiet, thunder. Obviously still very high up, but an impressive show none the less!
  9. Ok, there's about 1 flash of lightning every minute or so here in Sutton Coldfield, there's also heavy rain - and it's pitch dark. The thunder is very quiet and very high up, but there's still decent amounts of lightning.
  10. Looks like just rain here at the moment - it's started, but aside from the distant rumble or two, so far there's only been a few droplets of rain. Although the sky is very very dark.
  11. Louder and more distinct bang in Sutton Coldfield. This time, certainly not bin men!
  12. Very distant rumble in Sutton Coldfield. Could have been bin men, but getting darker by the minute here. Something is happening shortly, be it rain or more!
  13. It's all slowing down a bit here. Not much going on - 1 flash in the last 5 mins. The rain/hail hasn't been particularly heavy either in the last 5 mins. Suspect that's curtains for now... back to tidying the flat and the normal excitement!
  14. Think that the Masts at Mere Green are taking the hammering judging by where the forks are from the view in my flat!
  15. There's decent pea sized hail here now too - the lightning seems to be a couple of miles away - 2 to 5 second gap between fork and thunder. But lots of CG and heavy rain here... I haven't seen a storm in ages, so this is a welcome relief!
  16. 2 flashes and rumbles overhead Sutton Coldfield now. Beautiful stuff! Glad to be back on the ground from work now!
  17. Is there any chance that those beeps on the Strike Alert in Cambridgeshire could be something to do with the lightning here? Incidently, it's gone very quiet now... Maybe it's burnt out already?
  18. In Solihull, Birmingham, I can happily report bright lightning and rumbles of thunder. Getting closer too... It looks like we're about to get a bit wet here!
  19. Amazing footage. Makes you wish you were out there right now!
  20. Did anyone else just see the car infront of his skid off the road and into a ditch? I hope they're ok.
  21. Matt Grantham now has a tornado on cam
  22. Lasted longer than sex for me.
  23. Felt just like turbulence to me! However, in the same case of me flying, I wouldn't want to be worken up by it at all! Maybe we'll get an aftershock shortly?
  24. I caught it at almost exactly 1:00am in East Northamptonshire. That was the first one I've ever felt too, and the first thing I heard about it was a dull-thundery-noise. About 15 seconds later, the entire room started shaking, and lasted for about 10 seconds. I could hear it rumbling away for quite a while longer than that. I thought at the time that maybe the epicentre was close to Peterborough, however Hull/Grimsby/Lincoln is close enough! What an experience. Glad to have felt that one.
