  1. Often heard the phrase "under a blanket" of cloud etc but have never seen one so obvious & dramatic. Early this morning here on the Coast at Worthing we were in bright morning sunshine whilst inland you could see a bank of cloud stretching along the South Downs it seemed that underneath it was just grey and dense - the sort of cloud that holds all the old fashioned smog under it. It looked like a the cloudal equivalent of a Tsunami approaching. Anyway all early morning dog walkers were captivated by it - all exclaiming we'd never seen anything quite like it before!

  4. Ok "WeatherMaster" maybe you can answer my question that I posted earlier as you obvioulsy view the UK / Wind speed direction charts as much as I do. "What do the lines represent in the above charts, surely they are not isobars as they seem to bear no relation to the strength of the wind, is it the speed of the front tracking through over time ? That is, if they are very close then the "wind" will track through very quickly, if they are well spaced, but it is still windy, then the wind will take longer to track through?????"

  7. Well after a frustrating day wind wise yesterday, when a fair number of the windsurfing "crew" here in "Windy Worthing" had opted to take the afternoon off only to see the wind drop as the tide went out, looks like we're in for more of the same frustration today! Clear & bright first thing. 8. Super start to the day - we have high tide at 11:15 and a swell buidling - you can see it on the live streaming cam wind's are currently S'ly so for windsurfing we have to let the tide drop as when the wind is straight onshore it's impossible to get off the beach due to the shore dump and groynes. Once the tide drops then in thsi wind direction we can blast parallel to the coast at speed close in - still would like stronger winds, should get that tomorrow hopefully" Current Weather at : 8:48 Date 20/09/06 Wind S at 20.0 mph 10 min average wind speed: 22.0 Highest Gust: 30.0 at 4:44 Wind Chill: 16.4 °C Pressure: 1010.9 Steady Temperature: 17.7 °C Current Rain: 0.0 mm/hr Sunrise: 6:45 Sunset: 19:05

Hi there I PM'd you about my weather station here on the beach in Worthing West Sussex - I in fact setup the first WeatherCam way back in 96 or 97 can't actually remember - then setup the now defunct Boatasttic Network of WeatherCams. The site is primarily for windsurfers and kitesurfers and has a decent streaming cam And looks like we're finally in for some wild wet n'windy weather this week which will see us out in the sea on our boards http://nwstatic.co.uk/forum/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/unsure.gif Oh here's the link http://seaspritesports.com/weather-cams.php Regards WeatherCam ( G Baylis)

  15. Whhoooo just been out windsurfing here on the South Coast at Worthing West Sussex - with a highest gust so far of 49 mph at 09:09 - thought I needed a smaller sail - waves are epic - beach has now closed out which means we can't get launch as the waves are just TOO big - and we're 2 hours off high tide - will have to wait till post high tide for another session. Have redesigned the website - still has actual weather every minute and the streaming cam - which you might find offline as so many people are accessing it!! 16. Ok guys - if you want to see the storm over the south coast at Worthing "Live" via my streaming cam at 15fps it's currently catching some good "bolts" out to sea - as it gets closer might have to shut down the PC's - ig you get cam offline could be too many people are accessing it - be patient hit refresh http://weathercam.camstreams.com/
  17. See glorious weather on the seafront in "real time" - I have been busy upgrading the "technology" now 15 fps, and you can now see the end result at http://www.seaspritesports.com/weathercamframe.htm The feed should be ok for up to 15 - 20 simultaneous viewers, any problems and hit the "refresh" button. The cam will be zoomed in/out depending on weather conditions. For no wind days, when there's no action out on the water - cam will be zoomed back enabling a view of the sky and cloud formations as well as what's happening on the promenade. Plus follow the Worthing Weather link and that's the actual weather updated every two minutes - pressure now tres high at 1036. Current Weather at : 13:14 Date 07/06/05 Wind ESE at 7.0 mph 10 min average wind speed: 8.0 Highest Gust: 19.0 at 8:42 Wind Chill: 12.6 °C Pressure: 1035.7 Steady Temperature: 13.6 °C Current Rain: 0.0 mm/hr Sunrise: 4:51 Sunset: 21:12 High tide: 11:55 Low tide: 17:44 (5.7m) Regards WC
  18. Another good breeze today - been a good four / five days after a lean period of no decent wind for us (windsurfers) on the South Coast - the recent N / NE'lys are no good for us as the wind is cross offshore... Current Weather at : 10:46 Date 24/05/05 Wind S at 24.0 mph 10 min average wind speed: 28.0 Highest Gust: 38.0 at 9:00 Wind Chill: 8.7 °C Pressure: 1016.3 Steady Temperature: 12.2 °C Current Rain: 0.0 mm/hr Sunrise: 5:02 Sunset: 20:57 High tide: 12:21 Low tide: 18:20 (6.0m) Streaming Cam is showing good clips -
  19. Here in Windy Worthing, from the earlier flat calm wind is now slowly developing in advance of the incoming Low - plus, we should get a sea breeze top up by around 14:0 with the wind SW'ly at 15mph - subject to cloud cover....streaming cam is not functioning at the moment - but static is - see below Current Weather at : 9:39 Date 18/05/05 Wind SSW at 9.0 mph 10 min average wind speed: 6.0 Highest Gust: 11.0 at 3:28 Wind Chill: 10.0 °C Pressure: 1022.2 Rising Slowly Temperature: 11.1 °C
  20. Ok, please help, looking at the Met Office charts for today http://www.wetterzentrale.de/pics/bracka.gif , I would have thought that here on the South Coast we'd have E'lys blowing, but the wind is N'ly http://www.seaspritesports.com/weatherframe.htm which updates every minute and has a streaming cam for those that don't know - am I missing something in interpreting the charts with regard to the isobars, or has there been movement between the High and Low - Many Thanks Regards WC
  21. We had a beach hut end up in our garden after the storm - Blown straight across the road and smashed against our wall with splinters and the roof ending up going over the 5' wall into our back garden......!!
  22. Looks like the "sea breeze" season is kicking in, some what earlier this year - over the last 10 days we've had varying degrees of activity - and today looks to be a classic.....so for those that don't know, you can sit in the office watching the kites, boards etc out on the water via the streaming cam found on the link below - plus all important weather data updated every minute from Shoreham, Hayling and Worthing. It was a classic start to the day.....here on the South Coast - may things like this continue...currently conditions do look very good - hardly a cloud out over the sea, with about 7/8 cover inland as far as I can see over the Downs - if it stays like this will be a super day - and looks good for Thurs and might even now last till Friday.... Current Weather at : 11:48 Date 27/04/05 Wind SSW at 22.0 mph 10 min average wind speed: 20.0 Highest Gust: 27.0 at 10:32 Wind Chill: 8.6 °C Pressure: 1015.4 Rising Slowly Temperature: 11.6 °C Here's my earlier daily weather report for today.... from the main Weather Site linked to below Weather update Wed Apr 27th 07:30 - Tuesday saw the winds building, enough to get people making plans for an after work excursion, and for those lucky to get out around 14:30 they had a good session, then the wind died, whether this was the approaching Low do not know, but it did kill off any sea breeze activity. As for today, we'll get sailable winds again, already clouds are clear over the sea and heavy inland, if it stays like this, then here at "Windy Worthing" we'll get a "top-up" with a sea breeze, so later on we'll see F5, possibly even F6 SW'ly later. The rest of the week looks good, and we should have a few days with good solid F5 - F6, see it here on the UK Charts & Forecasts - as ever things can change . Two Day Potential Rating Kitesurfers Wed 8/10 - Windsurfers Wed 6/10 - Kitesurfers Thurs 9/10 - windsurfers Thurs 8/10 - Star Rating 7* Please note that the cam is zoomed in on the sea when conditions are favourable for sailing - so the various board, kites and boats can be seen - when there's little activity the cam is zoomed back - link to the streaming cam can be found on the link below - enjoy... _________________ Regards WC http://www.seaspritesports.com/weatherframe.htm
