  1. Turquoise already writing off the season on the 1st of April? Come on hahahahaha
  2. Ali1977 Been looking at them on Windy, the ICON seems to agree with the AROME too. In summer I always look at the AROME a couple days out before a Spanish plume to see how they play out, and it always seems to handle that well. Fingers crossed that it handles snow well too.
  3. People seem to forget too, for every "bust" and "damp squib" we get, we get more data on the reasons why the forecasts fall short. It can only get more accurate. The people analysing the data and getting it wrong are 1000x more useful to us all than people who (accurately) call a bust with no analysis. Some people want to learn what makes the weather tick, and others just want to bet it all on The Atlantic because they think that's a safe bet.
  4. I was thinking this... has there been a pattern of two HPs linking up and splitting the PV? To my uneducated brain, that's what I've been seeing. Are the heights over Europe threatening to do this soon? Model watching for me is like looking at a really slow Lava lamp and going "oooh" when the purple blob visits the UK from the N/NE
  5. Hi, this is my first post here, I've been lurking and attempting to soak up info as I go along, since I have no idea when it comes to winter weather. I have however been keeping an eye on Fagradalsfjall. This is an effusive (non-explosive) eruption, meaning the lava gets a long time to cool and doesn't form ash, so there's very little chance of that disrupting anything. Sulphur Dioxide emissions may be worth a look as that does cause atmospheric cooling, and this eruption is a big one, bigger than the previous eruption this year, the fissure already looks to be 4km in length. I was joking in November when the tremors started that we'd get a white Christmas if it erupted, especially seeing as summer was very mild while the other volcano was active (probably coincidental). I wasn't really expecting to be hit with the gift of prophesy
  6. God please no I hope not. I've been enjoying this autumnal dip
  7. I'm trying to sleep but this storm keeps dropping absolute bombs, and it seems to be backbuilding. Ooooof.
  8. I could swear I saw two on separate lightning flashes above the Sheffield storm on Saturday night. They looked like tangly strings popping up for a fraction of a second above the storm.
  9. It's gone out of my line of sight now, as it approaches Sheffield. Was nice to see another night storm though.
  10. Not something I ever thought I'd say, but I think I've seen my first ever sprite!
  11. Can anybody tell me what the deal is with that low pressure in the bay of biscay? Why doesn't it want to move or do anything?
  12. Not entirely sure the Midlands are getting anything tonight
  13. If GBeebies is saying it then there's no chance of storms lol Not long until UKV and AROME agree then? I'm on team AROME personally
  14. Can see flashes to my west, Derby way, will be cool if this carries on while it is dark
  15. Just heard a very close crack of thunder, not showing up on detectors though
  16. Like this? Little noodle arm from my cell a few hours ago
  17. Downed tools for the day and sat down, heard what I can only describe as a distant explosion, turns out there is a cell right out my window and its headed right for me. The ECM provides right on time too!
  18. Skies keep flashing, drains are overflowing. Yup, it's June alright
  19. My home town is in for a pasting, I'm on holiday just my luck
  20. Reckon they will last once the sun goes down? If it carries on into Wales I might get a good view of some night lightning
