  1. How the heck did the forecast go in the opposite direction at the very last minute? From a dry and mild weekend outlook on Friday afternoon to absolute washed out roads and water courses back at dangerously high levels.
  2. Oh yeah the sunshine made a very brief visit, but gave you a sense of Spring being around the corner - but the cold wind reminds you we are only in mid-winter.
  3. Another badly forecasted weekend.. Saturday was meant to the best of the weekend, rode my bicycle all day from AM to PM and got wet on and off, nothing more than drizzle but pretty much as forecasted. By Saturday evening, about 7.45pm and about 5miles from where I parked my van at Woodhall Spa, were I would be spending my evening; it began raining, more than it had all day. From the moment I got in the van till maybe 6am in the morning it just rained continuously, nothing especially heavy, just constant! After getting up and out the van many times for a wee; rain does this to me I finally woke next morning to more dullness and with another few hours of riding I expected the weather to be even wetter than the day before. Much to my surprise it didn't rain a drop further, in fact the sun came out near Belton, Grantham and I enjoyed a lovely tail wind all the way back to the van. As an outdoorsy person the lesson I have learnt quickly from the weather forecast is a) expect the unexpected so always take a rain jacket and b) the weather is never nearly as bad the weather forecasters make it out to be or your mind thinks it's going to turn out.
  4. Well forecasted temperatures for today were way off. I was riding my bicycle around Lincolnshire, mostly in the Wolds and I can tell you I would not describe the weather as "mild" at all, the wind was very bitter indeed. There was an hour of very-early Spring-like weather in the early afternoon and then the wind picked up again and it was bloody cold once again. But at least it was dry!
  5. I noticed last week the website raintoday.co.uk is down. It was a really useful rainfall radar that was perfect for using on a mobile in terms of zooming and moving around. Does anyone have any free websites or apps that I can use that was just as good as raintoday.co.uk ? Please don't suggest metoffice it's pinch and zoom and not mobile optimised.
  6. Complete whiteout after 20 minutes then of course it stopped just as it going here in Cleethorpes! Still lovely peaceful evening hour long walk.
  7. Last 12hours been pretty disappointing, idk how the Netweather.tv dare use the phrase "Beast from the East" on their front page, so far its been another disappointing episode.
  8. A dusting of snow here in the last 30 minutes or so, radar looks interesting for now and overnight; that wind is quite something too.
  9. Quite right so everyone has got themselves worked up about any potential snowfall, but just been for 6 mile plus walk around Humberston, Cleethorpes and I can tell you it ain't half windy outside today. I would have loved to have gotten out and ridden my bike today over to the Wolds or somewhere, nice warm flask of Coffee, maybe a few biscuits looking over towards the Lincolnshire coastline, but the wind today and the next few days quickly point an end to that idea.
  10. A very light hail shower here in Cleethorpes, settling on the road easy enough by the looks of it and the wind is up. Doesn't look like much on the radar today unless it intensifies.
  11. I have to agree with Reef and others in East Yorkshire it was definitely disappointing in terms of snow depth. There was certainly no hours of heavy continous snowfall, but more like short bursts of heavy showers which only reasonable in depth due to their on and off nature. Thia period will remembered more for that strong Easterly wind that caused snow drifts and often near zero visibility on exposed coastal strips and exposed elevations. It was pretty good, above average in the christmas pudding; nothing spectacular and certainly not up there with the best. Well I hope that's it for 2018 i enjoy my outdoors pursuits like running and cycling far more than 'just cold'. Certainly don't want to see anything on it near Saturday 17th March as I have my first long distance bike ride of the season planned: 200km / 125miles.
  12. Am starting to believe them stories about governments seeding the clouds to warn away severe weather because this is not what was forecast. Snow everyday Tuesday onwards yet the forecast show zilch for this area. Cold weather is not interesting by itself, these so called ice days won't materialise without snow cover.
  13. The Beast from the East is turning into a Chihuahua from the Sahara.
  14. That BBC forecast from yesterday evening clearly shows the winds moving from a NE to a straight E with the bulk of the showers heading through the far North of our region missing most of us entirely. I am yet to be convinced of snow amounts given the track of showers showing a near miss.
  15. Cold sure is hanging on today... high of 6... heading to Hull earlier about 10.30am temperature of 1C along the A15 accompanied by rain.
  16. Travelled from the M180 services all the way past Scunny. The weather was atrocious for a time as it feel very heavily and the mway was very quickly becoming white.
  17. Yes what a massive disappointment. Only snow we had was during Thursday... It's been heavy rain since Friday when i was hoping for heavy snow. How could the forecasters get it so so wrong... Sigh Deep in puddles not in snow
  18. A dusting overnight of unmeasurable proportions!
  19. 'CAA' Or perhaps an extra big department store that used to be in the UK.
  20. Unexpectedly very windy, my mind was on snow watch not wind watch. No snow here in Grimsby, but apparently snowing down the road and home in Immingham, can't see anything sticking, too wet and not cold enough for starters.
