  1. Hi again fortune favours the brave so Man Without Beard ..... thanks for yours and Jayces answers and lets see if you can guess the snowfall. As you say, the East is favoured but knowing the Pennines and the peak district, it seems a lottery as to who gets it over on the dark side more charts and experienced guessing then!!!!
  2. Good afternoon This is possibly the most in depth forum with so many differing options, time frames and opinions. With that in mind I don't think anyone should be reluctant to post in this rather unique year. AER even started their weekly blog suggesting he would be "spit balling" this week as he didn't know!!!! With specific regards to this coming week, could somebody please give an informative description of "convective, sublimated and "nailed on" snow. I for one am a little confused as to how storm Nancy is nailed on while I read snow showers could form in the North Sea and drop varying amounts on the east coast and may not show up before they arrive. I feel like I am doing a watching masters in weather prediction this winter and the excitement is massive. somebody mention rehab after all this has happened, but I guess we then look at when it gets warm and will the summer be warm hot or unbearable if climate change is believed. I wish everyone a great week, snow or not and, it certainly looks a great ride into what may be a non existent warming period before more ice age stuff.
  3. For us less well qualified folks.... or just me, Can you explain that chart Vikos Please?
  4. Morning all Fabulous weather last night and we all got a shock with the west side ( I have two engineers stuck over there currently!)..... This why weather is so fascinating. Our local forecast here in Leeds last night has a coldish but dry weekend and I am looking at your Sunday charts with snow on them. Keep up the great forecasting and, while there is so much uncertainty past 3 to 5 days, isn't that what makes it fun to ponder what could be based on experience. From what I am reading on here and from Judah Cohen, we just don't know for certain and the "Nailed on" I saw earlier might have to sit on the shelf for a few weeks yet! Roll on the next chapter 'cause I don't think we are finished with any extreme ....... As I said before, great site and effective moderators ... even for grumpy Yorkshiremen!!
  5. Guys Just because we are seeing substantial changes and anything post 5 days changes by the hour, please don't stop analysing what the long term is showing..... and then showing it! Just because it changes doesn't mean its wrong. It just means we are interpreting data from way out, in isolation. There is no harm in what might be.......... reality right now is pretty ***te anyway.
  6. Good afternoon - I have been an avid "watcher" of the AER blog from Judah Cohen for a long time and recently came across this site, which I have signed up to. I think the interpretations of what is possible and what is improbable due to time is fascinating. The wealth of knowledge across you guys (and gals) is amazing. For me, seeing what could be, is just as important as what will happen. We all have the right to dream and just because it changes doesn't mean it should be discounted. Our weather is fascinating and while we see changes from north to south, this week we have seen higher gradients from west to east. Keep up the great forecasting - if it happens it happens and that's the great part. If it doesn't we should learn why it didn't and all the data we churned out is there for history and what could have been. Maybe we should have a further forum that actually interprets the bad news and whether we saw it coming!!!!!!!! A great site
