  1. Yes I just noticed that.. I think the cooler air will start filtering in here in the next 15 minutes. 36.3C the maximum I think, not quite as high as yesterday, but not far off. As I speak the wind has turned west and it's got breezier.. so this is the turning point
  2. from a local perspective, I suspect Hawarden will beat its all time record again today if it stays sunny.
  3. I cannot believe what I am seeing here. Unreal.
  4. well I didnt expect that, the suns been out for some time now but I went out to water the allotment, and whe I come back it saying 35.0C.. absolutely crazy rise.
  5. it's on very dicey ground that one. However, Kew Gardens can't be far behind.. somewhere will steal that record before the day is over.
  6. I assume (perhaps wrongly), that if there is some difference between Gatwick and Charlwood, that the record at Charlwood may be disputed. However it doesn't really matter, there are plenty of stations that will take its place.
  7. So I may have a reason why it's quite 'cool' in comparison here.. it's humidity.. or humidity is rising fast.. the dewpoint is currently 16C. You can feel it's getting more humid, and even though it's just surpassed 31.5C it feels muggy and oppressive compared to yesterday which was dry heat.
  8. judging by the latest obs, I have before 13:00 or just after it. That then leaves some room, before the cloud moves in (presuming its forecast time), to hit 40C. This is as hot as it can get here.
  9. I think its safe to say, the record will be smashed today.. even if cloud cover comes in earlier than expected.
  10. The mind blowing thing, is that the north Wales coast may rob the Welsh record off Hawarden if thing continue the way they're going... there's some stations recording 35C there.. even a 36C near Rhyl.. makes you wonder!
  11. you can be envious now to be honest, I've just been outside, it doesn't feel hot really. I think that's a mix of 'it's not actually that hot' and 'were all used to the heat to an extent, so it doesn't feel as hot as it did'
  12. Yes it's very strange.. There might be a very shallow low level inversion around 80-100m in this area, that's my only suggestion
  13. Temperature has stalled, and is actually falling and times, but then rising again, so it looks like 28C will be the maximum temperature today. This cloud will likely prove stubborn, and won't be moving anywhere until the lower cloud associated with the front/trough moves in later. I have to say though as the extreme high temperatures are over here, in analysis, reaching 37C yesterday was a heck of an experience, and I suspect it won't be the last time we reach such figures, as the climate is warming drastically, and I would say maybe in the few years we will be in this situation once more.. maybe this time we will beat these figures though. Having beat the highest temperature record day and night, was an eye opener.. but not overly surprising given the situation Now I'm looking forward to some cool, and perhaps stormy weather going forward!
  14. 40C could be reached in parts of Manchester as it stands. Parts of south and east UK could obliterate 40C given 32 to 34C is already being recorded widespread. Here it might be starting to cool down already relatively speaking.. although it's rising slowly, it is much much slower than anywhere else. That said the sun is fully out now, whereas it wasn't before, so who knows.
  15. My location is not going to reach the dizzy heights of 37C today I think as there is no real rise in temperature at the moment. I presume it will level out about 30C mid afternoon.. Hopefully there will be some storms later. Maybe the temperature will rise a bit soon though.
  16. 26C still here and really warm, cannot sleep. I guess it won't be dropping much from now til dawn so this location may smash the record in an unofficial capacity. That said, I'm not sure itll be broken officially as mostly below the record in a lot of places countrywide
  17. Still 30C which is mind blowing.. with all this heat, it should only drop to 24C.. tomorrow looks good for 38C by 2pm if the sea breezes stay away.
  18. I could see a minimum of circa 24 to 25C tonight if the inversion is very low level
  19. Yes Snowdon summit is forecast 28C at midnight. A record without doubt for the summit
  20. 37C today.. The hottest I've ever felt with a genuinely hot breeze. It smashed the record here by a good 3C Its cooling down now to 34C
