NorthEastSnow Continental Climate I am at a loss with the Met Office, they have remained bullish on this outcome for a long time now, cold Feb, easterly, north easterly etc and remained bullish that tomorrow's event will be a snow event even at low levels before turning to sleet/rain, not quite sure what to think but for sure I would rather be reading it from them than the mad thread. I guess a case of wait and see.

Can't see much from this system on Thursday, maybe sleet but more rain. However Met Office are still quite bullish about it ( probs more on high ground) but also bullish about things next week with snow showers along coasts and then further on an E/NE with East facing coasts again seeing wintry weather. Not sure why but it just doesnt feel like it for me, maybe because it's been so mild recently, though did feel quite a bit colder this evening with the cold front coming down from the North. What's everybody else's thoughts for the next couple of weeks ?

Model Output Discussion - Spring Has Sprung
Gizzy replied to Community Team's topic in Forecast Model Discussion
I like the fact the models are showing very little in advance, how many times has this place been ramping with blizzards, minus 20s etc etc only for it all to fall to pieces time and time again, season after season. According to the gospel ( Met Office ) Feb is going to be cold, snow chances are heightened and even possibilities of very cold - that's good enough for me. -
Haha, if only eh. Strange because we did do decent this morning, good couple of cm which is still sticking around but yet I went for a drive and around 300 yards from my house there was virtually nothing on the road out to Boro. Obviously we caught the very edge of the beefy shower that went over around 8am, assuming Scarborough / Whitby got a good downfall from that.

Yep Scarborough should have got the goodies on this occasion. It's always that little indent between Northumberland to Scarborough that catches us out in these coastal events. Got a slight dusting, very cold but very nice. Will be happy to have a little break though after today ( sure the boiler will as well ) before hopefully an interesting February. After Feb please bring me spring.

Laugh a minute isn't it.

What was the wind direction in Feb 18, I recall that really cold spell as I started a new job in Durham and had to travel 40 mile through blizzards, only to get there to be told the local lad I was meeting couldn't get in for the snow. Sure that was an easterly and I remember the ice days, boiler condensers freezing and ice covering the windows. But do agree NE is best for us too.

This whole cold spell ( promised so much a week ago ) has been quite underwhelming in terms of snow. I do like a hard frost and we have had them and lovely cold mornings, another very hard frost tonight and possibly a couple of snow showers next few days but that will be it I guess. Met office still touting the easterly in Feb but once again suggesting a dry easterly.
