But ...could be worse ..hurricane ..tornadoes..sweltering heat ,..glad there is no wildfires here either because I'm on a hose pipe ban ..couldn't win could I...house is about go up and then a se water bloke comes round says thats thousand pound fine mate ..
Wouldn't say no to a tornado, or rather a Waterspout, Can't believe I missed the one out dungeoness. Was intending to go to Eastbourne for the airshow today - wanted to see the Chinnook, am guessing it might well be a bit of a wash out.

Nowt but rain in bexhill at the moment. Close, muggy rain.
-
Well the whole system split either side of us, hitting Brighton and on the other side dungeoness/Dover, if only it had been darker we would have caught some distant lightning, as it was we had four flashes. Impressive wind pick up and biblical rain briefly but nowhere near as exciting as anything amazing that’s been reported.

Sitting down here in Bexhil on sea watching clouds scoot past, sorts of different options on what's going to happen, would be interested to know what you guys think

What a night. I don’t think I’ve seen so much lightning in one evening, the bonus of living by the channel I guess. Like most events this year the main party happened either further east or further west but have a channel side seat allowed for distant viewing from 8pm until now. a couple of cells produced overhead, but as always seems the way they seemed to slow down as they traveled over and pep up again once past the bexhill bubble! still an amazing night. There is footage and photos of tonight and last night, will upload when I’ve trawled through it all.

I'm on the wrong side of Kent
It's painful when you are stuck literally half an hour away from a great view point, a view point which blocks the view from where you are lol

depressingly quiet here in Bexhill, all forecasts I’ve seen for here over the last 24hours have so far been completely wrong. Everything west of Beachy head again. That first train to eastbourne is looking a desperate temptation

Sitting up in Bexhill regretting the decision not to sleep, what looked oh so promising now looks like a nothing for us tonight. I. Must. Learn. To.drive

If anyone is storm chasing, where are you positioning?
Can only chase on foot so we will be lurking in a shelter on bexhill seafront

Still 22c and very humid. Maybe tonight we’ll finally hit the lightning lottery!
Edit: as long as the lightning doesn’t hit directly
Enjoying the warm evening air, though wouldn’t mind a tad less humidity..
glad you added the edit, because that’s the kind of thing I’d forget to put and end up frazzled

@bluebell ps you’re already doing better than me, I don’t even drive so like eagle and lightning lover I’m stuck where my feet can take me, which will be down the the prom as always

That would be so cool a storm chaser camper all kitted out and good to go, big windows for observations and a decent kitchen to cook up some lovely nosh to keep the energy levels up. I’ve got a Berlingo with a boot Jump mini camper conversion in the back I love it , but it’s a bit tight for space, the kitchen pulls out the back so without an awning exposed to the elements !
Sounds like fun but if things go wrong it won’t be bacon frying!

I wish I could come chasing,my gf was up for it as well but it's at night and I'm only 15 so I'll have to stay put where I am
A few years and you'll be flying all over the place! I want a campervan so I've got everything on hand

Only 29c here today lol ..normally we would get few of them days in a summer and be over the moon ,now it seems its just run of the mill ,but to make it a typical 29c English version you need it to be humid , and we had it here today if you could see moisture and water vapour it would be like walking under or through water..thats what it felt like
Hopefully it’ll go bang tonight as predicted! You should come chasing!

there are places down there that have missed them yes, but in general all the storms over the last 2 years have been concentrated in the same areas....generally the south across Sussex, Kent, London and up to Lincolnshire. A lot in Ireland and Scotland this year too...but areas such as Nottinghamshire, Cheshire, Staffordshire, Yorkshire, North Wales have had absolutely nothing since August 2020....and its very frustrating. But its weather, nothing we can do about it lol
I’d argue more West Sussex than East Sussex but that’s me splitting hairs! Usually see them approaching in the distance in the west and then they see Beachy head and the South Downs and veer more northward.
I can’t count how many charts I’ve seen with a clear sky over Bexhill lol.
time to join in the rain/thunder dance.

so basically ANOTHER copy and paste job tonight then.
Kent, South East, Lincolnshire. Hogging all the storms as usual.
Hogging? Down here on the south east coast we’ve not had a proper storm, though I’m beginning to suspect that is due to the Bexhill old folks anti storm bubble. Any way, hoping for a proper old fashioned Sussex smasher, not the limp biscuits we’ve watched pass us by.

Lovely photos mate ...but don't you have water at the end of them old pepples ..Still waiting for a spit or spot here
Lots of rain resulting in puddles and wet feet.
would have loved a closer hit though, that’s twice in the last two days a fab storm has been just put of reach but close enough to tease.
need to work on teleporting skills

Current skies in Bexhill.. lightning seen to the west and now a rumble heard
-
That tiny cell that suddenly appeared south of bexhill in the channel quickly grew to hold a small but hefty downpour of large noisy convective drops, of course it electrified as it left the bounderies of Bexhill and is now merrily bumbling around north of us. Keeping a firm eye on the channel

@Thunders I'm eastbourne too, and despite being absolutely shattered I just woke up and I don't think I'm going back to sleep. I'm top floor victorian property almost on the seafront.. and the walls and floor are vibrating.. I can hear the building creaking.. its a wee bit noisy.. and wow its howling.
