  1. August until now has been very hot in Italy (especially in eastern and southern area), but the end will be cool Ireland could possibly have higher 850hPa temperatures than N Italy...
  2. I don't live that far from Turin, just 25 km South of the capital region of Piemonte Here, between 16.30 and 17.00 a strong thunderstorm with hail hit the surrounding area: 31.0 mm for today. Before the rain, the temperature went up to 27.3° (h. 15.46), but then, after basically only one hour, temperature dropped to only 14.8° (h. 17.14)! Now there's a very light rain, it's very dull and there are only 15.4 degrees. Basically is a gloomy Scottish or a Northern English evening here.
  3. Extremes of 8.8/19.1 degrees. A short shower of 2.2 mm during mid-afternoon. Now it's not raining but a sharp termic collapse has happened, now only 11.9 °C. At this time of the year an average temperature of 20°/21° is expected. 20210514_163143.mp4
  4. A short rain-shower with 6.6 mm fallen in about half hour. 14.7° in this moment, below average for this time of year. During the thunderstorm, some small hailstones fell. This is the first serious thunderstorm of the year. Basically, a day of typical British weather 20210511_171935.mp4 20210511_172527.mp4 20210511_173123.mp4
  5. 11.5° and 60 mm. Slightly both colder and drier than average.
  6. In the North-West, unfortunately, November 2020 is going to be a very dry month. September here was mediocre but not bad, while October was rainier than average. However, November here will close with a total rainfall of only 4.4 mm, STRONGLY below average. Temperatures wise: from 1981-2010 average, September and November both above average interspersed by a colder than average October. Now, these last days of November are relatively cold compared to a very mild first half of the month. Today, the last day of Autumn, the min was not very low compared to the previous days (4.5 °C), but now the temperature is only 5.3 °C and it won't go over 7/8 degrees due to the low-cloud cover.
  7. However November started with fog that dissolved around 13.30, since then the sky became clearer and temperatures went higher, now 10.7°
  8. October 2020 has been a relatively fresh October in Italy. Here, in this area, this month of October has been about -0.5°/-1.0° below 1981-2010 average, the third coldest October of the last twenty years, only behind October 2003 and 2010.
  9. October started with a partially cloudy day, max of 21.6°. From tomorrow will start a cloudy and rainy period, since 10 days the Autumn is accelerating more and more. On the 27th of September in Carmagnola were recorded very low minimum temperatures (1.8° in the countryside, 3.0° in town), in the last 27 years in the country-side station it was recorded the second lowest-minimum temperature (only behind the 18th September 2001, with a min of 1.1°). Despite a cold third decade, however, September was warmer than average, especially due to a very warm second decade.
  10. Today more normal temperatures, currently 21.0 °C, partially cloudy, but it was very cloudy and humid in the morning. Last days of September will be very fresh here Autumn will be protagonist in this third decade of Sep. in the NW of Italy, with moderate rain at first and then an important fall in temperatures.
  11. Also here these are days of "Indian Summer", maxima around 30 °C here and minima of 15.6 °C. This pattern will remain for all the second decade, we can hope for proper early-Autumn weather only in the third decade...
  12. Today typical early-September day, minima of 14.6 °C, maxima of 23.0 °C. Cloudy in the morning, sunnier with bright spells in the afternoon.
  13. Today minima of 17.1 °C, now 27.7 °C. Tomorrow and Thursday will be the last day of warm full-summer conditions here in the North-West, from Friday temperatures will drop for many parts of Central and Western Europe and temperatures will fall below average for the last days of August. Also September could start with cool temperatures, finally giving way to autumn.
  14. Today maxima of 31.9 °C, pretty disgusting. But from Sunday 23th temperatures will go down here, close to late August-average.
  15. Yesterday August 12th a very heavy thunderstorm hit my town. From a maxima of 31.8 °C, the temperature dropped to around 19 °C after the thunderstorm. Rain was very heavy, wind was also strong and there were also some damages. The rainfall was 35.6 mm, making the 12th of August the rainiest day of 2020. (rainiest day since 24th November 2019)
  16. Today minima of 13.3 °C, maxima of 30.3 °C. At least, in the next few days, the English will be good "heat-mates" for us here Sunday 9th is forecasted a maxima around 33 °C. P.S. Other fact: in Italy, after May 2019, only ONE month closed below the 1981-2010 average, this one is June 2020, closing at just -0.1 °C below this average.
  17. This night 4.6 mm of rain, now 21.5 °C, until Friday 7th or Saturday 8th no max >30° is forecasted.
  18. July 2020, Carmagnola, NW Italy Temperature Max Temp: 34.4 °C (31st) Min Temp: 13.4 °C (4th) Mean Max: 29.5 °C Mean Mix: 17.4 °C Rainfall Total: 37.2 mm Wettest day: 25.6 mm (3rd) Rainy day (>1 mm): 5 Sunshine No data, but it was moderately above average Overall it was slightly warmer (+0.3° to 1981-2010 average for the meteorological station of Physics Atmosphere of Turin), slightly drier and sunnier than average.
