Cheshire Freeze it was pretty wild yes, not sure if you are aware but there was a 'tornado' that hit Knutton near Stoke from that same squall line yesterday morning. No damage where we were but lots of pink lightning and very strong gusts with hail. Didn't last long though, maybe 15 mins max before it moved away

had a pretty heavy shower with some hail mixed in just now, no thunder heard

CoventryWeather Im in Sandbach, about 20 mins away from Stoke...and the squall line was very intense but didnt last long. But under it lots of lightning, hail and rain but I did notice the wind was swirling as the rain was wrapping around so I can see why it could of produced a tornado. Incredible.

Just had a very blustery squall line come through Sandbach in Cheshire, with 6 or 7 flashes of lightning and loud thunder, some hail too. It was a nice surprise, although at 6am waking me up wasn't ideal lol

looks like it wasn't even a Kent clipper tonight...beast of a storm but unfortunately stayed over NE France and Belgium

Looks like an exact rinse and repeat of last year....storms weaken as they approach me, fizzle out...and then randomly intensify again exploding into life over Sheffield and Lincoln way...happened so frequently last year and already the same thing again in April 2024
-
Thunderspotter I'm not sure if it's a geographical thing but I noticed over the last few years any storms that do approach either immediately weaken as they go over and then strengthen again when they move away, or they randomly change direction and divert away.

I hope this is not an indication that this year is going to be a repeat of last year....interesting little storm approching my area, and as per usual as soon as it hits the Stoke shield it weakens. You can bet once it passes over with nothing more than a mere drizzle it becomes supercellular once it's cleared the area and moved off. Story of last year lol.

Really happy for the people that got storms tonight, I think most of England had a storm to be honest apart from the north and north west. Really disappointed with this summer again for storms up here. We have had 1 small storm here since Aug 2020. We just always seem to miss everything. Oh well, maybe next year.

Hmm, include most of Norfolk and Suffolk as well, the storm last week was a Leics/Lincs affair.
I'm pretty sure youre gonna join the action tonight

Good to see the central south finally getting some action....I think that means now my part of Cheshire is probably the worst performing area this year for storms. We had a brief 10 min thundery shower and that was it in the last 3 years.

Lol they popped up rapidly and are now decaying just as quickly. Sporadic large raindrops here from a red radar echo.
yea, I feared as much. Oh well, maybe next year.

once again models have over-exaggerated the risks.....havn't we all learnt our lesson yet? We must know by now any widespread storm risk across a swathe of the country turns out to be a grey mass of drizzle and clag instead.

I spy an MCS kind of thing on the latest UKV - for tNW England. Think @Turquoisemight be happy at that one playing out
For Southern England, looks like rain for many...

And we missed absolutely everything.....the storms that came towards us either died or turned away...and the storms that did do well developed north east of us and moved away.
Always so unlucky lol.
