  1. today's weather forecast, 19th centuey style, according to Admiral Fitzroy ! cloudy skies, snow, thunderstorms (a large flake was at the top of the tube before I turned it slightly to take the picture)
  2. sunny but quite breezy this morning, only had the odd hail or light snow shower over the last week or so, just a bit on the hills, but today there are 7 or 8 ships sheltering off Douglas so expecting a good 'blow' later abt +6c, N 17mph gusting 30mph 995 /^
  3. Isle of Man, just had hail / fine snow, not covering the lawn yet

  7. why do the tv forecasters still go on about how calm it is, and going to be ?, it's still windy 20-40mph all this week, are they just trying to make people feel good for xmas ?
  8. I'm just gobsmacked that the wonderful netweather forecast is showing rain every day (except next tuesday, which is the very day I would bet on a sprinkle falling) for the next week giving moderate rain at 7pm EVERY DAY ~ there's got to be something screwed up in the software for that
  9. c'mon guys, when's this rain coming ? I'm going to have to go and water the garden if it doesn't come soon flippin weather forecasters currently blue sky, sunshine, calm
  10. sunny but lots of haze, can hardly see the cruise ship in the bay ! 18c light breeze nw forecast still showing rain 7pm every day (except 1) for the next week ~ I hope something screwed up there showed showers for late last night and it was the clearest starry sky I have seen for ages
  11. I can't get over the forecast I am getting for here from netweather, it says it's going to rain every day at the same time (7pm) for the next week Looking at the charts I can see nothing which would give me the slightest hint of such weird weather, I can't see anything in the way of rain until about thursday next week ! I can only hope it's a quirk in the system somewhere but time will tell ps. weather station down for repair, ignore below wind charts
  12. forecast showing tomorrow wind 2.6mph with gust of 2mph
  13. snow, some people think it's just pretty and fun, to others it's more life or death

  15. I don't know where this temperature is coming from, 7c with gales from the North, gusts of 42mph (a semi sheltered direction), but how is this wind so warm ? from that direction I would have expected the monkeys would be looking for a welder
  16. who's kiddin who ? rainfall 'light' or 'very light' I would take a guess we'll have more than 2.6mm rainfall tomorrow !
  17. 7.4c 993mb falling 1.5/hr, just started raining, very windy ~ SE 25-30mph (even with the weather station wound down, it's presently mounted on my telescopic radio mast and slightly sheltered by the roof of the house)

  20. regular visits by sparrows, great tit, chaffinch, blackbird (feed on the fallen apples), starlings (perch on my aerials !) jackdaws, robin, collared dove (regular pair), thrush, saw one goldfinch last week, and the odd visit from herring gulls (when I put leftover bread out) and the odd magpie occasional sightings of greenfinch and blue tit when I have time to watch carefully but not seen recently not noticed any particular change of habit, always hungry, the jackdaws have developed the knack of emptying the feeder
