  1. Drive to my work in Hawick this morning from Glasgow via Tweed Valley was astonishing. Prob 10 inches of champagne powder, sparkling sunshine and -4 at 0830. As previous posts it could have been the Alps. One thing I've noticed this week is Borders drivers really do have a good understanding of winter road conditions, maintaining safe distances and good steady speeds.
  2. Proper snow here now, lets see if the next one currently over the Pentlands can make it.
  3. For us Glasgow southsiders looks like the bottom edge of each blob is inching southwards. I'm tracking showers making landfall at Dunbar as those with our name on it. Stressful times as kids expectations for the morning are now sky high...
  4. For a great real time example of the abrupt change in air mass along the English Border, check out the wet traffic camera at Carter Bar which is slightly higher than the very white camera at Soutra. Must be a forecaster's nightmare!
  5. Edit. VAR check, now 100% wet snow. 1.4C and dropping fast...
  6. Here in Burnside (SE Glasgow) lampost estimate says 80% snow and we are at 90m asl.
  7. Heavy snow now on A7 between Hawick and Selkirk, road turning white pretty quickly. Good luck to those in the sweet spots tonight
  8. Check out the Traffic Scotland A68 webcams at Soutra 1200ft and Carter Bar 1350ft. Suspect the snow line will be dropping through the night and a good covering across central parts of the borders and far south of Lanarkshire could be on the cards by morning.
  9. Amazing thundersnow on M74 tonight near Lesmahagow, whole sky lit up purple, whilst the starship enterprise effects of the headlights were in full effect. Very surreal!
  10. River Teviot in Hawick has undermined a building which is now in danger of collapse. All residents safely evacuated
