There has been a few cms of snow falling across Thurrock in Essex, even though it was forecasted for heavy rain.

  2. Jesus! The roads are horrendous! Supposed to be going to a party in Walsall but i've managed to get off the estate but the roads in and around Dudley are gridlocked and in some places like a skating rink! Not worth the risk!

  3. Currently in Hastings for Dad's 70th. Back to Dudley tomorrow, work Tuesday and Wednesday then off to Tenerife! :)

  4. Had a 30 second monsoon at around 8pm! Very odd!

  7. Currently in Hastings after bringing my elderly Dad back to his house from Torquay yesterday as he ended up in hospital there, Been sitting in the garden all day and sun burnt as a result. Been lovely. Back home to Dudley tomorrow evening though. On Annual Leave next week though, first proper break since Christmas. Hoping for some nice weather so i can start using my hammock again!

    1. lassie23

hope your dad is getting better

    2. matt_in_dudley

He's much better thank you. He's just got to look after himself a bit better and do what the doctors tell him rather than plowing on regardless. He think he's 21 which is great but in order to act 21 you have to look after yourself so your body will enable you to do things a 21 year old would do lol. Bless him!

  8. Anyone looking forward to seeing the back of Winter 2016/2017? The only snow i've seen since moving to Dudley 4 years ago has been the odd dusting that melts by lunchtime. Last proper snow i saw was March 2013 in Brownhills. Looking forward to Spring, flowers and trees blooming back into life and the smell of cut grass and apple blossom! :)

Wouldn't say real heat has disappeared, last September and July 2015 both saw record warmth. Decent thunderstorms have always been very rare occurrences for me, can count on one hand the number of strong thunderstorms I've seen in this country. We live in a country that has a pretty dull climate, the very definition of a temperate climate is that we don't often see extremes! But it has become incredibly frustrating just trying to get a decent snow event in recent years, even with seemingly good synoptics.

I don't think heat has disappeared either - 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 all saw some noteworthy hot days, record breaking in some areas.

Definitely agree about thunderstorm though. Only had one last year.

This winter has been very high pressure dominated which of course resulted in boring weather for the majority of the time. Why can't we have this much high pressure during the spring and summer months?

  9. I have daffodils popping up out the front early for the 4th year in a row.

Been colder here since December except the last few days.

  10. Had a lovely quiet Christmas Day. Hope you all did too! Merry Christmas!

  11. I like the how mild it's been but i can't stand how damp and grey it is. Been dying to get my car washed but it's pointless at the minute. It'd be filthy again within a day.

warm = damp dark, cold = dry, sunny bright

  12. Currently in St Leonards near Hastings and it's thundering! Very warm despite the cloud!

  13. We've had sunshine, hail, sleet and snow throughout today! Now it's thundering, with lightning! All seasons in one day!

  14. Erm it's snowing here in Dudley!?

  15. It's been a lovely day! Stood outside out of the wind and it was actually quite pleasant. Sun is getting stronger by the day. Daffodils are sprouting in the flower bed in the front garden! Can't wait for Spring proper now!

certainly agree with sun getting stronger/higher in Feb, those who say it's not are telling fibs

I hope this year's summer is like 2014, 2014 was a fantastic Summer, it was thundery and warm. I wonder if there's a possibility of it turning out this way due to experiencing the same conditions as this time 2 years ago. We shall see! :D

  17. I hope you all have a happy, safe and prosperous 2016! Happy New Year!!

  18. Just had a massive flash of lightning and crash of thunder and it's throwing it down! Where the heck did that come from??!

Yh unexpected it's coming down heavy now and has stuck nice also

  22. Someone quoted in the Express today has stated that "Cold-air outbreaks and snow storms will likely occur at times this winter." - Never would of guessed!!

  23. I've had an amazing week! Met my musical hero Delta Goodrem. She was a genuinely lovely person!

    1. TwisterGirl81

I ahve her first couple albums somewhere, lovely voice :)

    2. matt_in_dudley

I have everything she's ever recorded! I've been a huge fan of hers for many years, always wanted to meet her! She was genuinely pleased to see us! Her love for her fans was so tangible! Her voice is amazing live also!

  24. Wasn't it supposed to thunder...or at least rain here today? Neighbour just said that they've forecast thunderstorms this afternoon?!

    1. IanR

thats because they believed the bbc too much, with louise lears forcast virtually saying there will be intense thunderstorms moving into the midlands, and her bouncing around made her forcast seem more believable , calm down louise, there is just a moderate 'risk', that what you should be implying , the bbc are annoying lately,

    2. jtay

is there an echo in here?

    3. Carl46Wrexham

What is more annoying is when they persist with using out of date and inaccurate graphics. Earlier their map was showing all of Southern England and most of Wales under heavy rain, at 2pm, when even their online forecast map was showing that to be inaccurate.

  25. Brr! I'm freezing! Feels and looks like October out there! 13C with constant rain!
