  1. Slightly harsh... These conditions are pretty difficult to predict with any uncertainty and it's a bit like walking a tightrope, balancing all the conditions. The issue comes with people who are being inflexible and get very excited about one prospect, without acknowledging how tentative the conditions can be. It was always a possibility that milder conditions would return sooner rather than later. They are the professionals after all and the changing forecast is welcome in my perspective - rather they change them to reflect the actual new data input in rather than stubbornly hold on to a forecast less likely to pan out but which makes more people happier. Just my two cents.
  2. Hopefully it will all coincide... Warm weather and sunshine, lockdown-free, vaccinations on the rise... Keeping my fingers crossed
  3. Following this thread... desperate for some warmth and sunshine now. Thank goodness for the increasing daylight hours, makes things a little better
  4. Much more falling here now - big snowflakes slowly drifting down. Been going on all morning. A wall of white outside! I will admit it's nice to look at from inside, but I feel for those who are working outside or having to travel out to work today. Luckily am inside on a WFH training day.
  5. Perhaps but they don't give me more confidence in other driver's abilities or local council's abilities to grit the roads. Winter tyres may help with one aspect but not the others, such as working outside in this rubbish weather and freezing despite multiple layers. I appreciate your help but it doesn't make a spot of difference in my dislike of this weather. Roll on spring
  6. I'm with you there mate - let me know if there are any warm weather hidey holes there
  7. London-way - last snow day we had was very "entertaining" - horrendous driving and horrible road conditions, black ice making commute incredibly treacherous. So many people not considering stopping distances and drifting out because "hey I have a 4x4 I'll be fine!!". Then when you're stuck outside for work for several hours and despite all the layers (and there are so many) and feeling like a michelin woman, you are still absolutely freezing and your toes and fingers go numb despite all the kit... I work as a first responder and this weather is just awful tbh. Give me rain and mild temperatures any day of the week!
  8. The best I can hope for is Sub-Zero temperatures with zero ice or snow in that case. But I won't be the only one who cannot wait for spring and summer in these groups without a doubt. Quite enjoyed the past few milder days. Things still likely to change and I can only hope the milder weather returns with full pomp!
  9. They won't help on black ice will they now rather the weather to clear up and ensure infrastructure throughout country is kept clear of this snow and ice. Also they won't help against traffic and other individuals who are unable to drive appropriately in those conditions.
  10. We shall see - things are so tempestuous, I'd be quite surprised if Atlantic doesn't fire up its magic and overpower this cold period...
  11. Because I have a 100+ mile commute to work and I detest having to travel in icy/snowy conditions. It's incredibly dangerous. And no, I can't work from home because of my job type. Less than a month until it's officially spring. Thank goodness for that. Had enough of this. Would rather wet and mild the icy any day of the week.
