Just had two bits of high cirrus cloud play with the sun and there is one more bit to do the same in about 5 mins or so.... but I’m still sitting at 37.9c! Surely Cambs has done or equalled the record?

Just need an official station in the right place now...

Bishop Stortford way seems to be another area that has a shot .....West London still possible.........I thought the cloud over ST neots and further SE had gutted southern cambridgeshire chances but might well be proved wrong!

Sun is back out in force now, my PWS is back up to 37 from 35 when we had the rain

Just forgot to update my place!...yes in St Neots for a wee while

Tom...where are you getting 37C...I have to be honest and say I think my readings are being affected by being in more urban part due to apartments and car parks.......wouldnt shock me lower temps with a bit of greenery

I am in Eaton Socon near the water tower. Mind you I'm back down to 36 now (plus my weather station has issues with the humidity sensor)

big bank of cloud formed over Bedford....due to Sun position/incidence ... has shaded St Neots - record unlikely to go if cloud intensifies ....however....

I think we need to look towards the triangle.......Cambridge - Cambourne/Papworth Everard/Huntingdon - record might be possible there (maybe south of Cambridge but there is light cloud a good 20 miles away SSE of St Neots which may affect places like Saffon Walden/Haverill / Royston/Baldock/ etc........ sky is still very clear about a mile east of St Neots .... east of Cambridge might be good too ... but cools the closer to the East Anglian coast

The cloud is very slow moving but still registering 38 in my garden

I'm keeping an eye on Cambridge airport METAR as it could be the one to break the record (I guess its an official site?)

You take your cat to work? I blame the heat for everything

No its my home office - only a portable one but still 40kg so have got to carry it up to the bedroom later which will not be fun in this heat.

Garden weather station is reporting 38 which is the highest I've ever known it. It always over reads a bit in sunny weather so I'm hopeful it'll nudge 40
