  1. Just had a rapid drop of 0.3c... think 37.9c could be my top temp today. So close yet so far
  2. I would say we have till 5pm based on what happened on Tuesday with some very late max temps in some locations.
  3. Just had two bits of high cirrus cloud play with the sun and there is one more bit to do the same in about 5 mins or so.... but I’m still sitting at 37.9c! Surely Cambs has done or equalled the record?
  4. Yeah, I think Cavendish is the place today as it has probably been affected by cloud the least. I’m still stuck at 37.9c, really struggling to break through the 38c benchmark.
  5. @nick sussex the skies are pretty much cloudless as far as the eye can see from the bedroom window. Just a few bits of very high wispy cirrus cloud. @James1979 we certainly are, which ties in well with some of the Hi-res models which went as high as 41c for Ramsey today, but widespread 37-39c.
  6. Snap! Same distance from Cambridge as you are, but just E and not W!
  7. Edged down to 37.6c as some high cloud passed through the sun’s rays for about 3 or so mins... plus repositioning of my weather station to keep it out of the sun this afternoon.
  8. It’s just gone a bit hazy but temps are still climbing here! 37.9c!!! All eyes on Cavendish for this I think.
  9. @Bryn Webster I can see your cloud bank out of back bedroom window! I’m near Haverhill (E of Cambs) sitting at 37.5c. I think Cavendish is now a serious contender looking at cloud cover and movement too thus even impacting Cambridge between 3-4pm.
  10. 14:00 update. 16 miles E of Cambs, 7 miles W of Cavendish... 37.4c, 35% humidity. The all time record will go, but will it be Cambridge, Cavendish, or possibly Peterborough or outside chance of Santon Downham? How does the progression of cloud cover moving northwards looking for these locations?
  11. 35.8c, 38% humidity and still cloudless skies! following very closely on the heels of Cambridge/St Neots/Peterborough area for record heat today.
  12. This group/admin members/whoever they are did call the thunderstorms correct Tuesday Night for the UK.... hopefully they don’t start before 8pm.
  13. Glad it’s developed there and not where I am when I saw the cell starting to develop with a long stream of cloud between 9.30 and 10.30am. Midday: Cloudless skies currrently, humidity at 40% and a temp of 34.6 (was 34.7 for about 10/15 minutes).
  14. Gone up by 1c in approx. 20 mins, now at 34c. Think the July record may be gone by lunchtime, if not 1pm at the very latest.
  15. 11am update. Temp of 33c, humidity 39% in the shade. Had some cloud pass through the area during the last hour/hour and a half blocking complete sunlight for about a total amass of 2/3 minutes. On course for record heat today but think it’ll be Cambridge/wittering/Heathrow or Northolt being the winner today as opposed to Cavendish or Writtle.
  16. Temp of 27.7c and humidity 45% in the shade. the skies are pretty clear despite some very high thin cirrus cloud which isn’t affecting the sun yet. 16 miles E of Cambs.
  17. Certainly agree with you with regards to Cavendish being a hotspot. I’m about 6/7 miles away and as of 10.55am, it was 30c. Now at 31.5c. And thats considering my weather station has been in the shade all morning and is about 2m above ground level. Temps have risen higher and faster than yesterday, but some high cloud has now wafted in making the sunshine a little hazy.
