  8. Hi all, Question - Yesterday in Newcastle just after 4pm it was hot around 36oc with a very warm breeze, High thin cloud / Slight hazy sun, No developing Anvils or elavated shower clouds from what i could see. Then suddenly at complete random the breeze just changed to a very hot wind, In my 42 years i have known nothing like it, I can only describe it as a heater being turned on or someone opening an oven door, It was incredible, The heat in that wind was surreal. This happened for about 30 minutes then became a very warm light breeze again. Can someone please explain what this was because it was awesome. I have read a thread about a rare phenomenon called a heat burst where the temperature at ground level can increase rapidly by 10 degrees within minutes - This is exactly what i experienced yesterday. Was this a heat burst or Foehn affect perhaps? I have no idea. Thanks.

  13. Hello, My first ever post. Ha Obviously new to this but I love reading the comments and learning things like CAPE, Anvils and Cap ect. I have also googled them to give me a better understanding of how storms develop. May I ask if anyone knows whether the warm front of the east coast has started to move west and if so will this still produce lightning or just heavy rain. Many thanks.
