  1. What are the chances of us getting any snow down here in Poole? Bit sick of not seeing a snow flake in a couple of years...

Same here in Bournemouth - doesn't look good for us, I think out best chance is early next week -- there's not much hope for us for today and tomorrow I'm afraid. I've lived here for 4 years, not seen a single CM covering.

  2. I came here expecting some discussion about the models and all i see is people whinging. There wasn't any of this nonsense back in my days on Net-Weather. It's a model discussion thread, people should be discussing the models without any bias towards warm or cold in the model discussion threads - discuss facts and projections - not sure why there has to be a team hot and team cold competing when we should be simply 'reading' the charts and giving thoughts and insight.

  3. I remember that retro Net-Weather homepage well - I've been here (although inactive in discussions in recent years) for quite a while and you've definitely done a sterling job to get NW to where it's at today.

I remember migrating here from the old BBC boards and loved every moment of being a member on here in the past.

Edit: just noticed I've been a member for 10 years - bloody hell. I was probably around 15 when I was first on Netweather. Where has the time gone?!

  4. Snow has now eased off, earlier it was alternating between periods of very light snow to moderate.

I'm very curious as to how this front is going to track, if we're lucky on the Wirral and in and around Cheshire, we will get battered by the part of the front that's over SW Ireland now.

If that part does indeed steamroll over us, I'd imagine at least 4 hours of consistent moderate - heavy snow.

  5. Me neither to be honest mate, generally dont come on until winter time and rarely post, but think I have the bug back as I have been checking every 5 minutes, abusing my Iphone like mad haha!!! We was up till all hours, those were the days, MSN haha! Have you moved?

Haha the days of MSN! I moved down to Essex a few years ago, then moved to Bournemouth and now living in New Milton, Hampshire. However i'm at home at the moment from Christmas and won't be going anywhere until the snow (assuming it comes) has gone haha. Currently awaiting MetOffice Rainfall Radar update, as it seems the bottom of the front to the West may clip the Wirral.

  6. Jesus, Snow Fan Man, your still here? Still on the ol' class B? Lol....

Haha, hadn't been on for years and not bothered to login when i had been watching late last year. Now i'm back to checking every day like the good 'ole days! Good to see you're still here mate, i remember us being up til late quite often chasing the festering snow showers.

    Hope you're doing good :)

  7. But most importantly, should you ever been in the position of thinking a cold snap might be Coming to an end because that's how you might interpret the models, make sure you put on your suit of armour before posting anything! My experience of lurking over the years is that the 'snow junkies' who would sell their kids X-Box 360 for a flake of snow, tend to leap on anyone who dares to mention that dreaded weather related word 'r**n' or types anything about the possibilities of temperatures raising above 4 degrees celcius between the months of October and April. Still, it's often worth watching the aftermath when it's gone the way you thought and observing them turn on each other before the top addicts rush off to the fridge freezer to partially leave the door open in anticipation of the severe ice build up to take them through to the next modelled cold snap Posted Image Entertainment at its best to go along with some realistic model watching!

n.b. please correct me if a snow junkies maximum temperature before they explode is 4c. It may of course not be acceptable to have anything but ice days in their world! Posted Image

Moving on, snow now turning to rain yet again by the looks of things this weekend around here at some point, the timing of which is still uncertain. Not so much a cold block but more like the Atlantic losing a bit of puff this week in my opinion. A weak sleety /snow 24 hours broken into two sections followed by a few below freezing nights shouldn't be sniffed at I suppose, but you'd have been forgiven for thinking we were on the verge of something monumental by reading some of the stuff on here this past week! Oh well, better luck next time perhaps, but what was forecast on the local BBC outlook earlier was broadly what I expected. With those upper temps chopping and changing on the ECM for the forseeable, anything more substantial looks to be a bonus at this stage from the Midlands south.

My first post here for a few years, but I'm curious as to what exactly the point was in typing that utter drivel? It's a model watching thread, FYI.

Weather users posts are ramping cold weather or not, as long as the posts are informative and relatively realistic and factual in nature, what's the problem?

  8. The snow here is slightly melting in places that are in the sun for long periods but it's still covering pretty much everywhere - the snow actually goes well past my ankle. Hopefully we will get a topping up tomorrow and Monday (and even Tuesday). The GFS and FAX look rather tasty at the moment and I hope they stay the same, or obviously improve.
