  1. *Stormforce~beka* At least it will be a much warmer cloud fest though, I’d much rather have a 17-19C cloud fest than a 7-9C one. The rain is also warmer in summer as well! ️
  2. These weather models are like dangling a carrot in front of a donkey! It’s always in 5 - 10 days time that the cold is forecast to arrive but it never does!
  3. That just shows how Britain is completely useless at dealing with any kind of wintery weather. Europeans must laugh at us. It is… For about 10 mins!
  4. In Absence of True Seasons At least it’s mild where you are! Warm rain is better than cold rain… ️ That said, just checked my weather apps tonight, couldn’t quite believe it, both the BBC Weather App and the Met Office app are now forecasting the white stuff for my location on Thursday! ️ There’s even been a yellow snow warning issued for NW England! All looks very marginal though, just a degree or two warmer and it’ll be sleet or cold rain… Even if it does happen, it looks like it’s just a one day wonder before back to rain on Friday again.
  5. Looks like the cold spell is definitely off now, very little snow in the forecast now, probably just lots of cold rain for most places. I imagine there will be a lot of disappointed people in the Mod thread…
  6. If we’re going to get Spanish plumes I’d rather they happen outside of the summer months, when they are less intense. The July 2022 heatwave was pretty intense! September and May plumes are usually ok as the heat isn’t as intense and the sun is weaker.
  7. To be honest I just want an average summer this year. No heatwaves, no washouts, just average temperatures, with a mix of sun and clouds, and the odd shower. I’d be quite happy with a summer 2015/2009 repeat. Like in the Timelapse below. https://youtu.be/N9M__emN4Dc?si=mchusAumX0IhJCgc
  8. I am reading a lot of comments saying how awful last spring was, but to be honest, I can’t remember it being too bad. I can’t remember anything warm in March, and I remember actually having snow on a couple of days in March, but I remember April and May having some mild/warm sunny days. I have found the CFS (can’t forecast snow) model to be fairly reliable. Mainly because it nearly ALWAYS forecasts mild and Atlantic driven weather in winter!
  9. raz.org.rain I think this image sums up how many in the MOD thread are feeling right now…
  10. *Stormforce~beka* I remember one morning having it and as soon as I walked out of the front gate and I fell over on my backside! Very hazardous and dangerous weather. Thankfully it rarely happens in this country.
  11. What about freezing rain? That stuff turns the roads and pavements into an ice rink.
  12. Another overcast and windy day here like so many have been this winter. Haven’t had any rain though, which makes a change… The high was 11°C. Looking like it’s just going to be lots of cold rain for most next week, the worst kind of weather, unless you are at elevation. High of 3/4°C and heavy rain all day on Thursday here. Luvly…
  13. 3°C and heavy rain with a feels like temp of -2°C here on Thursday next week… Yuck!
  14. Indeed. Forecast high of 4C and rain on Saturday here. About the worst weather conditions you can get in winter. The weather forecasters can’t even say “but at least it will be mild”… Probably plenty of scenes like this in London next week.
  15. Robbie Coldrain God help the south if they get a frost…. I’m not sure they’ll be able to cope or even know what one is… TheOgre I know! Honestly I can’t wait… Its yet another overcast and windy day here. Pretty sure the bbc forecast said “a fresh breeze”. It’s definitely more than that… Gusting to 50 mph at least. Temp currently 11°C. The story of this winter has just been overcast, mild, wet and windy here.
  16. I don’t know how accurate this is, but it’s looking very mild in Prague, although quite windy at times, with plenty of sunshine. Then possibly turning colder later.
  17. Nahhhhh cold and rain is much better, nothing like a bit of liquid sunshine! ️ But seriously, I’ve come across YouTube comments from people living in hot sunny places that they would love to live in the UK because of the cool rainy weather… I bet a lot of foreign tourists who come to London in summer are disappointed if it’s not raining and below 20°C… I think even if I had a holiday in London I’d want to experience at least one cool and rainy day.. Because that is the stereotype of Londons weather. The video below is actually quite relaxing to watch.
  18. Oh yes, because after such a wet autumn and winter, the last thing we need is another extremely wet July… I am personally hoping for SIX MONTHS of warmth, sunny and drought conditions from March to September!
  19. Methuselah Indeed. I suspect they’ll be a lot of toy throwing in the MAD thread very soon… But if the forecast cold snap does verify, then London could go from this… To this… Having great fun with this AI image generation software.
  20. RJBingham Gosh, sleet in winter, who’d a thought it? It’s actually forecasting snow here on the 10th, they’ll be needing to get the snow ploughs out at this rate! Its turned out to be much better than forecast here. Forecast was for light rain all day. It is actually partly cloudy with blue sky! Temp currently 8.6°C, and humidity is quite low at 66%.
  21. Metwatch Yes, but I think snow, unless it’s really heavy, will have a hard settling if it has been raining beforehand. SunnyG Mild here too. Currently 10.2°C, although it is quite windy, and it has been damp and very drizzly. An autumnal feel rather than a spring feel here. Feels like an October night rather than a February one. This time lapse video sums up the weather in the North West England region today. Quite different to Londons weather. Just to note, it’s Candlemas Day today. “If Candlemas Day be fair and bright, winter will have another fight. But if it be grey with clouds and rain, winter is gone and won’t come again”. The South east has certainly been fair and bright by the sounds of it, but some areas have had cloud and drizzle/rain. Wow looks absolutely frigid! If it were May… Gosh, that truly is exceptionally cold indeed! ️ Could bring the country to a halt! Better inform Nathan Rao from the Daily Express to warn everyone!
  22. Unfortunately the forecast for rain was bang on here. Overcast and breezy with that nasty fine rain/heavy drizzle here in East Lancs. Doesn’t look that bad but could probably get you very wet if you are out for too long in it. Temp 9.8°C with 90% humidity. Damp is the word. I think I’ll have to wait until March to get some dry, sunny weather with temps in double digits.
  23. There is no winter left to speak of… It will either be feeling springlike or autumnal in most areas for the next few days at least.
  24. That is probably why. Meanwhile here in the UK, winter has really dragged on this year as its been dull and wet since Late September. I know some parts of the UK have had a sunny January, but not here, no that wouldn’t happen here... Can’t be having too much sun in winter.. It’s not allowed… Winter has got to be gloomy and wet here. Interestingly at 4am the highest temperatures are actually in Scotland and Northern Ireland. Currently 12°C in Aberdeen but just 2°C at Stanstead Airport. Strange that. Some overcast and damp days coming up here, but… At least it will be MILD! Yayyyyyyyy!
