Somehow my location has gone from a few degrees above zero later in the week/weekend. To now not even under 10 degrees until Monday. This winter is driving me mad.

Already down to -5 here, was not expecting that. It's not meant to be down to -4 until midnight.

I'm starting to think you have a part time job as an actual Bald Eagle! It would certainly explain the birds eye view...

My father-in-law comes from Lecce; he now lives in Penzance - the mildest place he could find in the UK.
Oh Lecce is stunning! My boyfriend went to Uni there, he's from Brindisi originally. And I know what you mean about Penzance being so mild, it's my home town. Guess that I was just destined to live in the mildest possible places.

I don't think I'm fully there yet as I have no pain (just sore from coughing), no fever and the green is mostly only in the morning first thing then it goes clear. I'll give it til Friday then maybe ring up. I think it's Bronchitis which online shows mostly viral. Plus Daniel has a similar thing but it's attacking his throat. I am on the look out though! x
Do they not get frosts there?
He lives in the far south of Italy in Puglia, so while on they can very rarely get cold (at least for them) temperatures in winter, it's usually not below the mid to high teens in January. it was 17° there this morning when I sent him a picture of my iced up car!

It's really nice out there, crisp, fresh and sunny (no I'm talking about your boyfriend!)

Supposedly still -5 here... Was not expecting that. Lowest temperature here for years. Just told my Italian boyfriend he's having a heart attack at the thought.

Proper snow now in Poole, so pretty watch to watch it twirl outside my window.

My sister lives in New Milton, apparently just started snowing there very lightly.

The constant up and down of this topic never ceases to amaze me… doom and gloom one day, positivity the next. It’s bad for your health!!!
Some people watch tragic grand opera or horror films... For us there is nothing quite like the sado masochistic activity of longing for Narnia in a rapidly warming world in a country that's never really been known for cold winters anyway.

As it stands North of the border has a good chance of a white Xmas.
Rest of us need the pattern further south.
Those south of London need a miracle!
Maybe I should pop into church tomorrow...

Who's dreaming of a Bartlett Christmas? A pretty wretched chart - viewers are warned that the GFS 12z run may contain upsetting images.

In the regional threads, it’s been reported as being sub zero in Dorset again. Appreciate it’s all fluid and evolving, but still looks a little complicated…
I'm in Poole highest temperature all day was -1. Heavy and thick freezing fog. Interestingly, the models had us at about 4 degrees top temperature here, but it's not got anywhere near that today. They really seem to be struggling to forecast this.

Sleety snow mix... Heavier now but not even trying to stick. Still... Lovely to watch

Yeah I watched it,there are a few flakes blowing around I just stuck my head out and it feels Baltic !
I didn't even expect a flurry never mind a hefty snow shower which has left full cover.
I'm not an expert on snow cover and night temps but I was already thinking the next 2 nights would be cold, with some snow cover it could plummet overnight.
Might as well stay up for the 00z run now
Will be festive round here for the start of December ..
Well... If us poor snow lovers in the snow starved south can't get our fix, I'm a big enough girl to say... I'm happy that you got some tonight. Getting any snow at all in the UK on the cusp of December is a win. Enjoy!

A few small flakes blowing around in the wind here. I can see them on my garden security camera, with the infrared light on.
Also have a few very light dainty flakes dancing in the weak lamplight outside. But I dare not open the front door to see properly... The dogs are sleeping and I will be killed for disturbing them.

If you had to lose one of the following weathers....

Daniel* I absolutely agree with you on that one. I spent over a month in Southern Italy in 2022 and 2023 with my Italian boyfriend and his family. The heat was horrendous (over 45 degrees for many days) and the sun was just causing spontaneous fires to break out along the sides of roads (we actually had to report one). It was incredible to experience that kind of intensity, but also frightening how hard an environment it is to live in even for those used to intense summers. I'm moving there soon and it's the one thing I have reservations about, knowing it is set to get far worse in the coming years. It really didn't help that my parents were telling me how miserable and cold it was in the UK... I told them. Be careful what you wish for... And I love the snow, even the very small amount we get where I live. I really worry that will become a memory of the past like the way my grandparents remember the brutal winters of the the 60's now, and that my (future) children may never experience it.
